1 Peter 3:14 NKJV

But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. “And do not be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled.”

We must be prepared for persecution for Jesus’ sake. Our Lord warned us that we may suffer as a result of our faith in Him. In 2 Timothy 3:12, Paul said, Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. Peter said we are less likely to suffer when we do what is right. However, there is a possibility that we will do the right thing and still suffer. He said we should not be afraid of the threats of the ungodly when we stand up for what is right. He also said we should not be troubled by it. If we will remember what Jesus suffered for us it will help us endure persecution. If we will keep the prize God has promised us in our view we will not be troubled by what people say or do. For the joy that is set before us we must endure the cross we bear on earth. If we are ashamed of Jesus on earth, He will be ashamed of us in Heaven. If we confess Him before men, He will confess us before our Father. The world we live in today is pushing all kinds of ungodly behavior as acceptable and threatening those who disagree. Let us not allow fear to keep us from doing what is right. It is not what man thinks that counts but what God thinks. Amen.
