Psalm 33:16-19 NKJV

No king is saved by the multitude of an army. A mighty man is not delivered by great strength. A horse is a vain hope for safety. Neither shall it deliver any by its great strength. Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him, on those who hope in His mercy, to deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.

God has blessed us with many talents and abilities. He has given us resources with which we can help ourselves live safely, survive and thrive on earth. However, as kings in God’s family we must be mindful of our complete and total dependence on Him. We have been given natural resources. We have spiritual resources as well, such as authority, dominion, the name of Jesus, faith and more. None of the things God has given us is a substitute for our relationship with Him. All of our natural resources can fail us. Our spiritual resources can cease to work if we try to operate them independent of a relationship with the Lord. God cannot fail. If God is against someone, no matter what they have in their arsenal they cannot win against Him. On the other hand if God is on our side, no matter what our enemies have in their arsenal they cannot win against us. So we must stay in touch with God and keep an attitude of reliance on His mercy for our safety and success as kings.
