Psalm 4:8 NKJV

I will both lie down in peace and sleep; for You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.

According to the 127th psalm, sleep is a gift from God. He gives it to His beloved. Sleep is something that all humans experience, but there is special sleep for the Lord's people. In the 4th psalm, it uses the words "lie down in peace and sleep." That is an image we need to have in our spirits and convey to our minds. We must never go to sleep in turmoil or fear. Whatever may be troubling us, when it is time to sleep we must pray and commune with God until we are able to lie down in peace. The psalmist says he would lie down in peace and sleep because the Lord was making him dwell in safety. We can conclude that verse anyway we need to for our personal lives. For example, "I will lie down in peace and sleep because the Lord provides for me, or is my healer, or comforts me." In other words, whatever might be troubling our souls, the Lord is our answer. Before we go to sleep we should make sure we are secure in what God is to us, and lay our heads down in peace.
