Oil Part 2

Exodus 27:20 NKJV

"And you shall command the children of Israel that they bring you pure oil of pressed olives for the light, to cause the lamp to burn continually.

God instructed Israel to bring oil. It had to be pure and from the olive fruit. They had to bring plenty because it would be used for lamps that were to burn continually. We are the light of the world. Jesus compared us to lamps. Matthew 5:14-16 NKJV says, “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”

God wants us to engage with the oil of the Holy Spirit and the anointing continually so we may burn continually. When the level of oil gets low, we must refill. Ephesians 5:18-20 says, ”And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,” So when we see ourselves operating more with our natural minds we must begin to speak to each other – psalms and hymns and spiritual songs. We must sing and make melody in our hearts to the Lord. We must, as representatives of the Lord Jesus, start thanking God for all He has done for us. We must do these and other things until we can tell the oil is replenished and we are burning bright again.

Oil - Part 1

Exodus 25:6 NKJV

oil for the light, and spices for the anointing oil and for the sweet incense;

Oil is symbolic of the Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit has come to teach us and guide us into all truth. Hence we see "oil for light." We see that oil was also symbolic of the anointing. The anointing was associated with the Holy Spirit, but more specifically, it represents authorization, office or position and sanctification.

1 John 2:20 says, "But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things."

May we take advantage of the Holy Spirit and the anointing that has been given to us today.

The Goodness of God Part 21

Psalm 107:8 NKJV

Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men!

Let us continually give thanks to God for His goodness. It will help us to remember His goodness and it will help improve our health.

The Goodness of God Part 20

Psalm 107:9 NKJV

For He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness.

We must always remember that God created us for Himself – to be His family and to fellowship with Him. We can get some satisfaction out of other beings and other things, but there will always be a longing in our souls for the Lord. That longing cannot be filled any other way. When we feel empty, we must remember that we are feeling that way because it is time to fellowship with God. It is time to pursue the lover of our souls. When we do, we will be filled and satisfied until it is time to do it all over again. He is the goodness our soul longs for.

The Goodness of God Part 19

Psalm 84:11 NKJV

For the Lord God is a sun and shield. The Lord will give grace and glory. No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.

The psalmist talks about the goodness of God toward us. He describes God as a sun and shield – one who meets our needs and protects us. He says that God gives grace and glory and withholds nothing good from those who walk uprightly. We should stick with God and expect His goodness to be shown toward us. Let us thank Him in advance for His divine provision, protection, grace, glory and abundant kindness. Then let us walk in harmony with Him so He can manifest all His goodness toward us. In other words, let us walk by faith, always agreeing with the Lord.

The Goodness of God Part 18

Psalm 34:8 NKJV

Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!

The psalmist knew that the Lord was good. He invited others to find out. How? He said to “taste and see.” We must come in very close contact with something to taste it. So it is with getting to know the true goodness of God. We must not just meet God at a distance. We must come in close contact. We must commune with Him and talk to Him like we believe He is listening. We must approach the Throne of Grace and hang around a while. Then we must listen to Him, follow Him and trust Him as He guides and directs our steps. Then we will know His goodness and find a blessedness in trusting Him.
