James 3:17 NKJV

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.

Jacob (called James in most translations) compared demonic wisdom with heavenly or godly wisdom. As we look at the kind of wisdom we want to walk in, Jacob said it is full of mercy. Many times we may pray for God's wisdom to guide our lives. When we think we have the mind of Christ on something, we must ask about our decision, "Is it full of mercy?" It does not mean we will always have to give in to the wants of others. It simply means our motive for making the decision is pure. We are endeavoring to follow the leading of the Lord, without prejudging the people we are dealing with to see if they deserve what we might do for them.
