This verse offers us a colorful description of how we should receive any direction or leading from the Holy Spirit and every word that God has spoken to us through His Word [the Bible]. If He says that you are the righteousness of God, redeemed and set free, then that’s settles it: that IS who you are…NEXT! If He says that He’s given you the victory and that you have favor with Him and man, then it’s settled. Walk in obedience and trust His direction every step of the way. It’s past time that we let it “sink in” and “go to the bottom” of our hearts and minds: IT’S SETTLED. I don’t need a Plan B, I can depend on God. Unlike any “experienced” human hiking guide, our Heavenly Father has the ability to lead us and hold us up. With a steady arm, He firmly navigates us through any difficulties (inclines) during this hike that we call Life. Miraculously, He can also handle carrying any burdens, concerns or anxieties that we may have in the process, if we’ll just release them to Him. So, rest IN Him. He’s got you covered.

You can tell from David’s reflections in the twenty third psalm that He was convinced that the Lord desires to lead His children every step of the way in our personal lives. Shepherds LEAD their flock every step of the way. The Good Shepherd LEADS us beside peaceful streams (He doesn’t want us anxious or to fret about anything; He wants us to rest IN Him. Philippians 4:6). He GUIDES you and directs your steps to walk in the will and purpose that He desires for your life (Psalm 37:23). Even when we may find ourselves going through tough times or in the presence of company that is ill willed against us, our Good Shepherd gives us perfect peace and never leaves our side (John 14:27)! 
Let God lead your life. He only desires the best for you (Psalm 139:17). So find comfort in His love for you today and don’t forget to stir up the gift by praying in tongues throughout the day.

Not only is His strength made perfect in our weakness, but He honors our obedience. He is pleased when we step out and trust Him even when circumstances are beyond our control, and we don’t quite understand how things will work out (Hebrews 11:6). The more our faith builds, the easier it is for us to walk and operate in it as a way of life, and when we do this, our Father is pleased and proud of us (Hebrews 11:6)! Walking in God’s unique purpose for YOUR life demands putting your confidence in Him completely. So stay connected to Him and practice hearing and obeying all that He’s instructed you to do.
