📖 “Do not remember the former things, or ponder the things of the past.  “Listen carefully, I am about to do a new thing, Now it will spring forth; Will you not be aware of it?  I will even put a road in the wilderness,
Rivers in the desert. -Isaiah 43:18-19 Amplified Bible

As we celebrate the new year that is upon us, we must be willing to forget the things that happened in the past. We cannot change the past. We can only focus on the present which will impact our future. God wants to do a new thing in our lives, something that we haven’t experienced up until this point. God wants us to experience a better life. A life that goes beyond anything that we could ever ask or think. He said in the text that He will even make rivers in the desert. God can change the condition in your life. God can totally change your life. God wants you to expect remarkable things in this new year. He is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above anything that you could ask or think. He is a good God!

📖 “Now, dear children, live in Christ. Then, when he appears we will have confidence, and when he comes we won’t turn from him in shame.” -I John 2:28 God’s Word Translation

Jesus is coming soon. We must all be prepared for Him when He returns. We don’t want to be like the bridesmaids in Matthew 25. When the bridegroom showed up, five of the bridesmaids were prepared and went into the wedding hall, but the other five had to go and purchase oil for their lamps. When they were finally ready, the door had been shut, and they were not allowed in. We want to be ready. We don’t want to be in the middle of sinning when the trump of God sounds. We don’t want to be involved in any questionable activity when Jesus returns. We want to stay vigilant and watchful. We don’t want to be ashamed when He comes. We must be ready.  No man knows the day or the hour. Jesus is coming soon!

📖 “Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be dismayed because of the king of Assyria, nor because of all the army that is with him; for the One with us is greater than the one with him. With him there is only an arm of flesh, but with us is the Lord our God to help us and to fight our battles.” And the people relied on the words of Hezekiah king of Judah." -II Chronicles 32:7-8 Amplified Bible

We can always have confidence when we know who is with us. That confidence comes from trusting and relying on God and not the arm of flesh. God is greater than any man. There is no one stronger than God, and there is no one mightier than God. When we know that God will fight our battles. When we know that God is on our side, we know that no one can successfully be our enemy. In Isaiah 41:10, God said told us to fear not because He was with us and to not be dismayed because He is our God. God will not tell us to do something that could not be done. When trouble hits our lives, we can sometimes forget who is with us. When we read, study, and meditate God’s Word, it is a reminder that God is for us and that He will fight for us, no matter what the situation is. When we get a revelation of this, we can rest in the integrity of God. We can rest knowing that He has our back.

📖 “Whatever task comes your way to do, do it with all your strength; because in Sh’ol, where you will go, there is neither working nor planning, neither knowledge nor wisdom." -Ecclesiastes 9:10 Complete Jewish Bible

We only have one opportunity to live here on the earth before we go to Heaven (those of us who are saved). We must make the most out of our lives. We must take advantage of every opportunity. We must make every day count. Jesus was aware of His mission, and He worked toward it every day. He went about teaching, and preaching, and healing. Sometimes He would minister for days. He would pray for hours late at night after ministering. He would get up early in the morning before His day got started and spend time with the Father. Jesus was all about His purpose. God expects no less out of us. We must be consumed with the will of the Father so that we can hear, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”

📖 “The righteous will inherit the land and live in it forever. The mouth of the righteous proclaims wisdom, and his tongue speaks justice and truth. The law of his God is in his heart; not one of his steps will slip.” -Psalm 37:19-21 Amplified Bible

The Word of God is our guidebook in life. It will instruct us and lead us in the way that we should go. When the Word is in your heart “in abundance”, you will not only know what to say, you will know when to say it. Ecclesiastes 3:7 tells us that there is a time to speak and a time to be silent. When the trials of life come our way, we speak what is in our hearts; and as believers, the Word of God should come out. God’s Word will guard your steps. The Spirit of God will bring to your remembrance what the Word of God says about the situation you are facing and what to do to overcome it. God’s Word is our answer. As we keep His laws in our hearts, we can expect to walk in our inheritance. We can expect to proclaim the right things. We can expect our steps to be ordered by Him, keeping our steps from slipping.

📖 “For thus said the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel: In returning [to Me] and resting [in Me] you shall be saved; in quietness and in [trusting] confidence shall be your strength. But you would not,” -Isaiah 30:15 AMPC

When facing difficulties, we have to know where our help comes from. Our help comes from the Lord. When we know the source of our help, we will rest in that. God is the One Who will fight our battles. God wants to remove every obstacle. When we rest in Him and the promises of God, we are showing God that we are giving Him permission to move on our behalf. When the Egyptians were going after the Israelites in the wilderness, Moses told the people to standstill and to prepare to see the salvation of the Lord. God parted the Red Sea, and the Israelites walked on dry ground. God performed miracle after miracle to deliver His people, and He will do the same for you. God will fight for you when you rest in Him.

📖 "The spirit of man [that factor in human personality which proceeds immediately from God] is the lamp of the Lord, searching all his innermost parts." -Proverbs 20:27 Amplified Bible Classic Edition

As believers, we are to be led by the Spirit of God. The Spirit of God within our spirit wants to navigate us through life. He doesn't want us to be led by circumstances, because Satan is the god of this world and he can manipulate things in this natural world. Satan cannot manipulate us in our spirits because he's not in there. We have to learn to become sensitive to our spirits so that we can be aware of when God is leading and guiding us. This comes through our relationship with God. The more time we spend with Him, the more we recognize His leading and His prompting. Time with Him is the key.

📖 ""And her [promised] husband Joseph, being a just and upright man and not willing to expose her publicly and to shame and disgrace her, decided to repudiate and dismiss (divorce) her quietly and secretly. But as he was thinking this over, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, Joseph, descendant of David, do not be afraid to take Mary [as] your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of (from, out of) the Holy Spirit. She will bear a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus [the Greek form of the Hebrew Joshua, which means Savior], for He will save His people from their sins [that is, prevent them from failing and missing the true end and scope of life, which is God]." -Matthew 1:19-21 Amplified Bible Classic Edition

As we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, let’s not forget about the part that Mary and Joseph played. Both individuals said yes to the plan of God. They both understood the magnitude of saying yes to what the angel had said. Mary and Joseph knew that they might be ridiculed and disdained because Mary would give birth to a child before they were married. People wouldn’t have known what God had said to them, but they said yes anyway. Jesus came into this earth to parents who submitted to the will of God. We must follow their example. Regardless of what it may look like to the outside world, we must obey God. We must follow the leadership of the Holy Spirit when it doesn’t make sense in the natural. When we hear from God and know that we heard from Him, we must follow Him. We must be like Jesus when He said not my will, but your will be done. God’s path is always the best path. His way is always the best way.

📖 "But Jesus answered them, My Father has worked [even] until now, [He has never ceased working; He is still working] and I, too, must be at [divine] work." -John 5:17 Amplified Bible Classic Edition

Jesus was all about His Father’s business when He was here on the earth. At the age of twelve, He was in the temple sitting and talking with the teachers and the Rabbis. After He was baptized in water and baptized with the Holy Spirit, He went about teaching, preaching, and healing. He was all about His mission all the way up until it was time for Him to go to the cross. We must be about our Father’s business as well. We must tell people about Jesus, cast out devils, lay hands on the sick; we must be about the Great Commission. We are the light of the world and the salt of the earth. God is counting on us to carry on His divine work until Jesus returns. Are you doing your part?

📖 "David asked the Lord, “Shall I chase them? Will I catch them?” And the Lord told him, “Yes, go after them; you will recover everything that was taken from you!” -I Samuel 30:8 The Living Bible

Many of us would be so much further along if we had sought the Lord when it was time to make a major decision in our lives. We all have had the tendency to make decisions in our emotions and in our flesh. We can imagine that David wanted to recover everything that was stolen from him, not just for his sake but for the men that followed him as well. Their families and goods were taken. David wanted to know what to do, and so he sought the Lord. God knows the future. He knows what will work and what won't.  When God told the Israelites that they would wander in the wilderness for forty years, they still wanted to go and try to possess the land. Even though they were told that they would fail, they tried anyway and lost. If they had just listened, they wouldn’t have suffered the loss the way they did. If we want success, we must seek God and His plan for our lives. We must seek His guidance. We can rest assured that when we seek Him, we are not seeking Him in vain. He always answers when we call.

📖 ""Faithfully obey the terms of this promise. Then you will be successful in everything you do." -Deuteronomy 29:9 God’s Word Translation

God will always do His part. God is faithful to His Word. Isaiah 1:19 tells us that if we are willing and obedient, we will eat the good of the land. God is all about prospering us and watching us succeed in life. He takes pleasure in the prosperity of His servants (Psalm 35:27). Our obedience to God demonstrates honor, reverence, and love. It shows that we respect Him as our Father and as our God. Every good parent wants to do special things for their children, especially when they do what they are supposed to do. God told His people that He would prosper the works of their hands when they heeded His commandments (Deuteronomy 28). God has not changed. He is still prospering those who love and obey Him. God is no respecter of persons; what He has done for one, He will do for another when they meet the same conditions.

📖 "His anger lasts a moment; his favor lasts for life! Weeping may go on all night, but in the morning there is joy." -Psalm 30:5 The Living Bible

When we encounter the difficulties of life, we face them knowing that those difficulties are temporary. Every problem has a limited span of time. We are built to outlast the devil. We are built to outlast every difficulty, every obstacle, every test, and every trial. We have the Greater One on the inside of us, and He is greater than anything the devil can throw in our direction. God has a solution to every problem. Nothing catches Him by surprise. As we fellowship with Him and keep our eyes on His Word, overcoming the tests and trials will become easier and easier. As we overcome, we become stronger and stronger. It doesn’t matter what the devil does, we know that it is only for a season. The devil had to leave Jesus for a season, and as stand on God’s Word, he will have to leave us as well.

📖 "Where there is no word from God, people are uncontrolled, but those who obey what they have been taught are happy." -Proverbs 29:18 New Century Version

The Word of God was given to us to govern our lives. It tells us what is acceptable and what is unacceptable to God. When the Israelites were freed from their bondage at the hands of the Egyptians, God gave them the Law so that they would know what would be pleasing and displeasing to God. The Israelites had been in bondage for 400 years, and when they were free, they needed to get acquainted with God. If they followed the Law, they experienced success. God would conquer their enemies and prosper them wherever they went. God has given us His Word so that we can experience victory and prosperity in our lives as well. Without the Word of God, we would not have any restraint, and the devil would have total access in our lives. If we want to enjoy the good life that God has preordained, we must embrace and obey His Word.

📖 "The good or bad that children do shows what they are like." -Proverbs 20:11 Contemporary English Version

One fairly popular quote in our society is “Actions speak louder than words.” Perhaps you’ve heard it. A person can say all day that they are a Christian, but what do their actions say? What statement is their behavior making? One cannot truly be born again and practice sin. Sinners practice sin because of their sin nature. They sin because their father is the devil. The sinner is only acting out what is on the inside of them. When we ask Jesus to be the Lord of our lives, we are born again. The sin nature is gone, and the nature of God is now on the inside of us. When there is a change in our nature, there should be a change in our behavior. People expect sinners to sin because they are sinners. Christians are supposed to act differently because we have a different nature. You won’t find apples growing on an orange tree. You won’t find peaches on a pear tree. The fruit of the tree determines what type of tree it is. The behavior of a person should reveal what’s on the inside of them. A good tree can only produce good. We must be ambassadors of the Lord Jesus Christ. If we are going to wear the badge of a Christian, then our lifestyle should match the badge.

📖 "And become useful and helpful and kind to one another, tenderhearted (compassionate, understanding, loving-hearted), forgiving one another [readily and freely], as God in Christ forgave you.” -Ephesians 4:32 Amplified Bible Classic Edition

Oftentimes, it is easy for mankind to justify the harboring of offenses in his or her heart because of the level of degree of disappointment or hurt experienced. He or she may erroneously find themselves rationalizing the “totem pole” of sin based on their individual views of the seriousness of the infraction, but how can one with a flawed intellect and heart JUSTLY walk in un-forgiveness towards another man? The answer: it’s impossible. Through His Word, God has commanded believers specifically to not only forgive without delay. He also instructs us to be kind to one another, looking after one another’s interests. When we have the heart of God, it’s pliable, loving; and it organically will operate from a position of compassion and understanding. We’ll be loving and patient instead of resentful and contentious. If we find that we don’t have the heart or desire to help our brother and sister in Christ, then there’s a simple solution. All we have to do is have faith and ask God to give us one. After that, we must spend time in His presence and Word and practice obeying His instruction, and it will transform us. As children of God, we should desire to have our Father’s heart. His way and outlook on life is Truth and always wisest.

📖 "Daniel answered the king, The [mysterious] secret which the king has demanded neither the wise men, enchanters, magicians, nor astrologers can show the king, But there is a God in heaven Who reveals secrets, and He has made known to King Nebuchadnezzar what it is that shall be in the latter days (at the end of days). Your dream and the visions in your head upon your bed are these" -Daniel 2:27-28 Amplified Bible Classic Edition

The world is full of problems. As the people of God, we have the solutions, because we have the greater One living on the inside of us. There is no problem that the Spirit of God can’t solve. There isn’t anything that is too difficult for God. Daniel had to believe God to not only reveal to him Nebuchadnezzar’s dream, but also to interpret the dream. If he had not interpreted the dream, all the wise men of the land would have been killed including Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. When Daniel received the revelation, that revelation saved many lives, and it brought about promotion. God wants to reveal things to His people that will have a positive impact on our society. He wants to use us to bring glory to the kingdom of God and to point people to Jesus. We must make ourselves available to God so that we can be used by Him in a greater way.

📖 "Wisdom is the most important thing; so get wisdom [The beginning of wisdom is: Get/Acquire wisdom]. If it costs everything you have [ Above all your acquisitions], get [acquire] understanding. Treasure wisdom [Highly esteem her], and it [or she] will ·make you great [exalt you]; hold on to it [or embrace her], and it [or she] will bring you honor.” -Proverbs 4:7-8 Expanded Bible

Wisdom is so important. King Solomon wrote about it being “the most important thing”. He understood the importance of wisdom to the extent that even if it costs a man or woman everything, they must acquire it and make that sacrifice. His reasoning was that wisdom will exalt us and bring us honor among other things. He would have known this firsthand. When God asked him what He wanted from Him, Solomon didn’t ask for riches, long life, or the lives of his enemies, he simply asked for wisdom and knowledge so that he would be able to judge the people. God was so impressed with Solomon’s request that He gave him what he asked for and the things that he did not ask for. God made him wealthy and gave him rest from all of Israel’s enemies. We have access to God’s wisdom. I Corinthians 1:30 tells us that Jesus has been made unto us wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption. We don’t have to be without wisdom. James said that if you need wisdom, to simply ask for it. So, we are without excuse. We will always receive when we ask in faith.

📖 "I am but a pilgrim here on earth: how I need a map—and your commands are my chart and guide." -Psalm 119:19 The Living Bible

When we make Jesus the Lord of our lives, we are born again. We are born from above. We become ambassadors of Heaven. We are now strangers or pilgrims that are just passing through here on earth. We understand that we are here temporarily, and that Heaven is where we will spend eternity. While we are here, God has given us His Word. His Word is our chart and guide on how to live and function while we are here. We have been translated out of the kingdom of darkness and have been translated into the kingdom of God’s Son. So, we now must learn how to function in the kingdom of God while we are living in the earth. The more proficient we are at operating in the Kingdom of God, the more success we experience during our time on the earth. God has given us a guide for us to live by, and our success depends on how diligent we are in using that guide. Let us never forget that our success comes by the Word of God.

📖 ""Whoever walks with wise people will be wise, but whoever associates with fools will suffer." -Proverbs 13:20 GWT

The Bible tells us that Noah walked with God. Enoch walked with God. Abraham was called a friend of God. David was a man after God’s own heart. We can also have a relationship with God. We can walk with God and fellowship with Him just like Adam did in the Garden of Eden. As we walk with God, we will start to think like God and talk like God. It has been said that “associations determine your destiny”. What better way ensure that we walk in our destiny, than by associating with God. God wants to manifest Himself to us. Hebrews 11:6 tells us that God, “is a rewarder of them who diligently seek Him”. Psalms 37 tells us that when we “delight ourselves in the Lord, He will give us the desires of our hearts”. You can’t go wrong walking with God. Your life will never be the same.

📖 "The wicked are overthrown and are not, but the house of the [uncompromisingly] righteous shall stand.” -Proverbs 12:7 AMPC

The wicked and the righteous will always have a different outcome. The righteous should always flourish like a palm tree. They will be like the tree that is planted by the rivers of water. The righteous don’t experience the same heat that the wicked experience because of where their roots are planted. Jesus said that He was the vine, and we are the branches. We draw our life and our strength from Him. When we build our house on the Rock and not the sand, we can expect our house to stand when the winds and the rains beat against our house. The wicked will be overthrown, and they will perish. They build their house on the sand. They are not in Christ, so they must draw their strength from another inferior source. The righteous will always stand when their foundation is the Word of God.
