📖 "But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You; Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them; Let those also who love Your name Be joyful in You. For You, O LORD, will bless the righteous; with favor You will surround him as with a shield." –Psalm 5:11-12 NKJV

There is a direct connection between our willingness to put our trust in the Lord and our joy. In verse eleven, the word “rejoice” means to have joy continually because we put our trust or faith in God. How do we develop our faith? Romans 10:17 NKJV tells us that “So then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.”

As we study and put the Scriptures into practice, confidence in the integrity of God will grow. As a result, the Lord shows up to defend us, and we experience this consistent and continual joy. We begin to love calling on the name of the Lord because He shows up when we call. Our relationship becomes a fellowship as we get in His presence. Through fellowship comes an understanding of what it is to be in right standing with God because of what Jesus did for us. As our fellowship deepens, a friendship is forged, and we find ourselves surrounded by a shield of favor! No matter what is happening, we see all things working together for our good and His glory! When we know the Lord is our sure defense and that His favor goes before us in every situation, how could we not have joy? Beloved, that is the trust – the joy connection! Take some time to meditate on Romans 15:13 NKJV. It says, “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

📖 "When Gideon got there, he heard a man telling his friend a dream. The man said, “I had a strange dream. There was a loaf of barley bread rolling around in the camp of Midian. When it got to the command post, the loaf of bread hit that tent so hard that the tent collapsed, turned upside down, and fell flat.” His friend replied, “That can only be the sword of Gideon, son of Joash, from Israel. God is going to hand Midian and the whole camp over to him.” When Gideon heard the dream and its interpretation, he worshiped the Lord. Then he went back to the camp of Israel and said, “Attack! The Lord will hand Midian’s camp over to you.” -Judges 7:13-15 God’s Word Translation

There are times in our lives when we may need God to confirm things in our lives. We may be unsure about the call of God on our lives. We may be unsure about whether to take a job or not. Sometimes it may be hard to discern the will of God concerning a certain area of our lives. God primarily leads us in our spirits by the Holy Spirit. Sometimes He will speak to us in our spirits. There are other times where He may use people to confirm something that He has been dealing with us about for a long period of time. God can confirm whatever it is that you are unsure about. Gideon was questioning whether they would win in battle, and God confirmed it through a conversation He overheard. God is a creative God. He knows how to deal with you to the point that you know that you know, what to do. You don’t have to be in the dark about anything. Nothing is too hard for God.

📖 "The Lord your God will force those nations to leave your country little by little. You will not destroy them all at once. If you did, the wild animals would grow to be too many for you." -Deuteronomy 7:22 Easy to Read Version

We all must embrace the fact that God is smarter than us. God’s wisdom is better than any man or woman’s. He knows and understands every situation that we encounter. He knows the best way to handle every situation. In this scripture reference, we see that God understood that if He just wiped out all the inhabitants at once, they would have an issue with the wild animals. God had the strategy that would allow them to take the land and defeat their enemies. Many times, we look at a situation, and we don’t look at the “domino effect”. We don’t look at how one situation will affect the next situation, and so on. God knows the outcome of every situation because He’s God. He knows the best approach needed to obtain the best outcome. Let's just trust God and trust that He will always do what is in the best interest of His children.

📖 "For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life.” -John 3:16 AMPC

God loves us. He loves and prizes us so much that He gave up His Son. He allowed His Son to experience the pain and agony of the cross so that we could be redeemed from the curse of the law. God did not want us to perish. Jesus paid it all. He paid the ultimate price so that we wouldn't have to. To pay someone else's penalty with your life, that's love. Let's not let that love be in vain. We can show our appreciation by giving Him our lives. We owe it to Him. He deserves our best.

📖 "I said, I will take heed and guard my ways, that I may sin not with my tongue; I will muzzle my mouth as with a bridle while the wicked are before me." -Psalms 39:1 Amplified Bible Classic Edition

One of the hardest things to discipline is our tongues. James even wrote that a man who doesn’t offend with his words is a perfect man (James 3:2). We sin with our tongues when we talk contrary to the Word of God. God calls that an evil report (Numbers 13:32). We must discipline our tongues. When things seem to be going wrong in our lives, we must discipline our tongues. Job 6:25 says, “How forcible are right words!” When we speak the right words, they become a force in our lives. Words will always make an impact in our lives; we determine if it will be a positive force or a negative force. Death and life are in the power in the tongue. (Proverbs 18:21) God has given you the right to choose the words that you speak, so choose wisely.

📖 "If you would [diligently] seek God And implore the compassion and favor of the Almighty, Then, if you are pure and upright, Surely now He will awaken for you And restore your righteous place. “Though your beginning was insignificant, Yet your end will greatly increase." -Job 8:5-7 Amplified Bible

God is a God of increase. He desires for His children to increase in every area of their lives. There are things we can do to experience increase in our lives. First, we must seek Him diligently. We must look for opportunities throughout the day to spend time with God. Sometimes, we must temporarily stop doing things in our normal routine so that we can have more time to spend with God. As we make time with God our top priority, God can take some of that time to reveal things to us that will cause increase to take place in our lives. God wants to lead and guide us in the way that we should go. He wants to teach us to profit (Isaiah 48:17). God doesn’t want our lives to stay small, He desires for our lives to have significance. When we do things His way, our lives will have significance, and we will make an impact for the kingdom of God.

📖 "He will rescue you in six troubles; in seven nothing that is evil [for you] will touch you. In famine He will redeem you from death, and in war from the power of the sword. You shall be hidden from the scourge of the tongue, neither shall you be afraid of destruction when it comes. At destruction and famine you shall laugh, neither shall you be afraid of the living creatures of the earth.” -Job 5:19-22 Amplified Bible Classic Edition

God knows how to take care of His people. When we find ourselves in trouble, He knows how to get us out of it. If you are serving in the military and you find yourself in live combat, God will keep you in battle. Our perspective on famine, war, and trouble should be different from that of this world. We have a God! We have a God that promises to protect us, and He promised us that He would satisfy us with long life. God knows how to feed us, clothe, and protect us. As believers, we have nothing to fear. It doesn’t matter what is goingon this earth, we don’t operate our lives based on earthly things. We set our affections on things above. Because we are spirit-minded, we can have life and peace.

📖 "You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy. At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore." –Psalm 16:11 NKJV

Because of our relationship with our Heavenly Father, He will show us the right path. If you choose to walk on that path, the Lord’s presence will go with you. As you rely on Him and put the total weight of your trust, honor, and love in Him, you will find yourself in His right hand. Did you note the progression? First: Relationship - God will show you. Second: Fellowship - If you move in His direction, His presence will go with you. Third: Friendship - If you value His presence, He will position you at His right hand. Relationship to fellowship and fellowship to friendship is what our Heavenly Father offers. Why? Because He wants you to experience abundant life, fullness of joy, and pleasures that are eternal! If the path you are on is not producing the abundant life Jesus paid for you to have, get in pursuit of the Lord. If you are not experiencing the presence of God with the fullness of joy, regardless of what is happening on the journey, pursue Him for direction. Get back on the path of life! If you find yourself with more pain than pleasure, pursue God’s presence until you are at His right hand. He has provided all that you need. Will you accept it?

📖 "So the king of Israel went with the king of Judah and the king of Edom. They made a circuit of seven days’ journey, but there was no water for the army or for the animals following them. And he said, Thus says the Lord: Make this [dry] brook bed full of trenches. For thus says the Lord: You shall not see wind or rain, yet that ravine shall be filled with water, so you, your cattle, and your beasts [of burden] may drink. This is but a light thing in the sight of the Lord. He will deliver the Moabites also into your hands.” -2 Kings 3:9; 16-18 Amplified Bible Classic Edition

There is nothing too hard for God. Everything is easy for Him. It was “a light thing” to provide water for the Israelite army and their animals. It was “a light thing” to deliver the Moabites into the hands of the Israelites. There is no challenge that is too difficult for our Heavenly Father. We don’t need to know how He is going to pay the bill. We don’t need to know how He is going to meet the need. We don’t need to know how God is going to do it. He didn’t tell the Israelites how He was going to put water in the trenches, He just did it. God knows how to pay the bills and how to meet our needs. We just need to trust Him and know that it's easy. Nothing is too difficult for God.

📖 "The Lord is with me, so I will not be afraid. No one on earth can do anything to harm me. The Lord is my helper. I will see my enemies defeated." -Psalm 118:6-7 Easy-to-Read Version

We have no reason to fear anything in this life. God is on our side, and because of that we don’t need to fear man. We don’t need to fear anything about man. We shouldn’t allow the position of a man to intimidate us. We respect man, but we don’t fear any man. God is greater than any human being. He can humble whoever He needs to and remove whoever needs to be removed. The Bible tells us that the heart of the king is the hand of God, and He turns it whichever way He desires (Proverbs 21:1). God will fight for us. He will make our enemies our footstools if necessary. We are to live peaceably with all men. We are to respect all men, but we are never to fear any man. If God be for us, who can be against us.

📖 "And my God will liberally supply (fill to the full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” -Philippians 4:19 AMPC

God can handle everything. He doesn't want to meet some of your needs, He desires to meet all of your needs. There is nothing too difficult for God. It doesn't matter what type of need it is. It doesn't matter if it is your mortgage or a utility bill. Take the limits off of God. Our limitations aren't God's limitations. He is more than capable. We can put our trust in God because He is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all that we could ask or think.

📖 "Fools make a mock of sin and sin mocks the fools [who are its victims; a sin offering made by them only mocks them, bringing them disappointment and disfavor], but among the upright there is the favor of God.” -Proverbs 14:9 Amplified Bible Classic Edition

Only fools make a mockery of sin. As believers, we are to be sober-minded about the wages of sin. The Bible tells us that the wages of sin is death. Adam and Eve underestimated the cost of sin. It cost them everything. Sin will mock us if we don’t stay free from it. We must stay away from sin and embrace righteousness and the dividends it pays. The text tells us that among the upright, there is favor with God. We only tend to gain when we do things God’s way. Obedience doesn’t cost, it pays. It always pays to serve God.

📖 "But he who looks carefully into the faultless law, the [law] of liberty, and is faithful to it and perseveres in looking into it, being not a heedless listener who forgets but an active doer [who obeys], he shall be blessed in his doing (his life of obedience). -James 1:26 Amplified Bible Classic Edition

It is very important that we hear the Word of God. The Bible even tells us that “faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17). Even though it is important for us to hear the Word, we must also be doers of the Word. The Bible tells us that if we are faithful to it, and if we persevere into meditating on it, we will be blessed in our doing. Isaiah 1:19 tells us that if we are willing and obedient, we will eat the good of the land. If we desire to go from glory to glory, we must be an active doer. We must obey the Word on a consistent basis. As we are consistent in our actions, we will experience the blessings associated with doing. God honors a life of obedience.

📖 "For the Lord your God has blessed you in all the work of your hand. He knows your walking through this great wilderness. These forty years the Lord your God has been with you; you have lacked nothing.” —Deuteronomy 2:7 Amplified Bible Classic Edition

The Israelites were in the wilderness for forty years, and they did not lack anything.  They ate every day. They drank water every day. Everything that they had need of God was met. There was even a time when they wanted meat to eat instead of the manna that they had been eating every day. God not only provided it, but it took them three days to gather it up. Keep in mind this was to feed a few million people. God knows how to take care of His people. Not only does he do it out of love, but He also does it because of the covenant. God is faithful to His Word, and it is impossible for Him to lie. If He said He will meet our needs, He will. If He said He is our Healer, He is. He is everything that He says He is, and more. Heaven and earth may pass away, but the Word of our God will stand forever.

📖 "Beloved, I pray that in every way you may succeed and prosper and be in good health [physically], just as [I know] your soul prospers [spiritually]." -III John 2 Amplified Bible

God desires that His children do well in life. Every parent wants their children to be healthy and successful in every area of their lives. We know that God sent Jesus into the world to redeem mankind. Jesus also said that He came so that we can have life and have it more abundantly. God desires for us to live the good life: a life of abundance and surplus. A life that is free from sickness and disease. A life that is free from the curse of the law. If God wanted us sick and broke, He would have left things the way they were. God desired better for us, so He sent Jesus so that we could have better. Don’t settle for anything less than God’s best.

📖 "Moses was 120 years old when he died, yet his eyesight was still good, and his body was strong.” -Deuteronomy 3:7 Contemporary English Bible

As we get older, we can still be healthy and strong. The world has sold us on the idea that as we get older, our bodies are supposed to deteriorate, and our health is supposed to decline. The world has given us the idea that we must be sick prior to death. They will even tell you that “everyone has to die of something.” Moses’ body was still strong at the age of 120. His eyesight was still good. Caleb was 85 when he told Moses that he was just as strong as he was forty years earlier. The Bible tells us that “they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint.” We must renew our minds to the Word of God. We can live long, and we can live strong. With long life God will satisfy us and show us His salvation. (Psalm 91:16).

📖 "My son, keep my words; lay up within you my commandments [for use when needed] and treasure them. Keep my commandments and live, and keep my law and teaching as the apple (the pupil) of your eye. Bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart. Say to skillful and godly Wisdom, You are my sister, and regard understanding or insight as your intimate friend—That they may keep you from the loose woman, from the adventuress who flatters with and makes smooth her words." -Proverbs 7:1-5 Amplified Bible Classic Edition

The Word of God will keep you. It will keep you from the loose man, and it will keep you from the loose woman. It will keep you from the dishonest man and the dishonest woman. The Word of God will keep you out of trouble. If you obey the Word, it will keep you out of ungodly places and out of relationships with ungodly people.  We are instructed to lay up the Word in our hearts, keep them as the apple of our eye, bind them on our fingers, and write them on our heart. In other words, put the Word everywhere, so that you won’t forget what it says. Those words are life to those who find them, and health to all of our flesh (Proverbs 4:22).

📖 "Besides, to which of the angels has He ever said, Sit at My right hand [associated with Me in My royal dignity] till I make your enemies a stool for your feet? Are not the angels all ministering spirits (servants) sent out in the service [of God for the assistance] of those who are to inherit salvation?" —Hebrews 1:13-14 Amplified Bible Classic Edition

Don’t forget about your angels. They are ministering spirits who are sent to assist those who have inherited (received) salvation. When we speak the Word of God, the angels do His commandments (His Word) and hearken unto the voice of His Word (Psalm 103:20). Speaking the Word of God activates the angels and causes them to move on our behalf. When we speak the Word of God, we give the angels an assignment to carry out. Many angels are sitting idle because many believers never quote or speak the Word of God. Don’t allow the angels to sit dormant in your life. They are our servants, and they are ready to move.

📖 “After three days they found Him [came upon Him] in the [court of the] temple, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. And all who heard Him were astonished and overwhelmed with bewildered wonder at His intelligence and understanding and His replies. And when they [Joseph and Mary] saw Him, they were amazed; and His mother said to Him, Child, why have You treated us like this? Here Your father and I have been anxiously looking for You [distressed and tormented]. And He said to them, How is it that you had to look for Me? Did you not see and know that it is necessary [as a duty] for Me to be in My Father’s house and [occupied] about My Father’s business? —Luke 2:46-49 Amplified Bible Classic Edition

There were two things that Jesus saw as a duty. The first duty was to be in His Father’s House (the temple). The second duty was to be about His Father’s business. We must embrace both duties. We must embrace being in the house of God, and we must embrace being about the Father’s business. We are not to forsake the assembling of ourselves together (Hebrews 10:25). We should be in church as much as we can. We should also be about the work of the kingdom. We need to be concerned about the Great Commission. We need to go about getting people saved, casting out devils, and laying hands on the sick. We are God’s ambassadors and His representatives; if we don’t do it, who will? We have to be about our Father’s business.

📖 “Cainan’s father was Enos; Enos’s father was Seth; Seth’s father was Adam; Adam’s father was God.” —Luke 3:38 The Living Bible

It has always been the desire of God to be a Father to His children. When He created Adam, He created Him for fellowship. Adam was treated like a son. Adam was to rule the earth the way that God ruled the heavens. Adam was made in the image and likeness of God, like a child is to his parent. When Adam disobeyed God in the Garden, he died spiritually and Satan was his new father. Adam was spiritually dead just like Satan is. God sent His Son Jesus to redeem mankind and to give mankind the opportunity to receive sonship (Galatians 4:5). That same chapter tells us that we are no more servants, but sons (v.7). We are not only sons of God, but we are heirs of God through Christ (Galatians 4:7). We have been restored back to our rightful place, let us walk like it and talk like it.
