📖 "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love." -I John 4:18 New King James Version

Fear is a force that should not be in the life of the believer. The Scripture tells us that fear torments. Fear is a sibling to anxiety and worry. They are synonymous and not one of them come from God. II Timothy 1:7 tells us that God has not given us a spirit of fear. Fear is a perverted form of faith, and it did not come on the scene until after Adam and Eve’s disobedience. Fear is the substance of what we don’t desire. We should not talk fear, and we should not think fear-filled thoughts. We must put our confidence in God’s love for us. When one is having a bout with fear, it simply shows us that that individual has not been perfected in love. We must continue to develop our faith in the love of God. Because of God’s love for us, we can trust that He will always take care of us, no matter what comes our way. God wants us free from fear!

He died in a good old age [his seventy-first year], full and satisfied with days, riches, and honor. Solomon his son reigned in his stead." -I Chronicles 29: 26-28 Amplified Bible Classic Edition

In this passage, we see the will of God in the life of David. He lived to be an old man. He died wealthy and with honor. God blessed David in all that did. God honored David because he endeavored to honor God. This is because he was a man after God’s own heart. David is a great example of a man that diligently sought the Lord. He wasn’t a perfect man. He made significant mistakes that affected many people. He sinned. He did a lot of things, but his heart was perfect towards God. God honored David’s heart and his love for Him. We can learn from the life of David. We don’t have to be perfect to walk with God. When we serve God with a pure heart and our motives are to please Him in all that we do, God will honor us. As you walk with God, you can expect a manifestation of His Goodness in your life. He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

The natural man puts their trust in riches. They put their trust in who they know or in their education. They tend to put their trust in everything except God. Those who put their dependency, trust, and reliance on God will flourish. The things on this earth can change based on the economy or even who is in control of Congress. So, putting our confidence here is unwise because there are several factors that influence the economy. It’s so encouraging to know that nothing changes the Word of God. God’s Word is forever settled in heaven. It does not matter what happens in this economy when we depend on heaven’s economy. God said He would meet all our needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Phil. 4:19). Let us be sure to build our house on the rock of doing the Word of God. Building it on anything else will cause it to fall. God’s Word will stand forever, and it can be depended upon.

At times we can think that we are moving in the right direction. We can think that we are doing the right thing. Later, we realize that we totally missed God. We are all human, and we are prone to making mistakes. When you are young in the things of God, you may not be able to gauge which way to go. You can always go to your pastor or a seasoned man or woman of God. You can always get counsel from a brother or sister who is solid in their God. There may be times where we might not hear from God in our spirits, but God will speak through an individual. Our aim should always be to be led by the Holy Spirit, but there may be times where you can get godly counsel from men and women of God who are filled with the Holy Ghost. God will meet you wherever you are in your walk with Him, as you continue to develop in your relationship with Him. He loves you. He always has the answer to whatever problem you are facing. He knows how to get that answer to you. There is nothing too hard for God.

There are no favorites in the kingdom of God. God is no respecter of persons, but He is a respecter of faith. If you see one prospering more than someone else or that someone is walking in divine health while another is constantly having challenges in their health, it is not because God prefers one above another. It could be that one has been standing on the Word and the other is not. It is possible that one has been more diligent in the things of God than others. Habakkuk 2:4 tells us that, “the just shall live by his faith.” We are responsible for growing our faith. We are in control of what we receive from God. God is an “equal opportunity employer.” We can all prosper. We can all walk in health. We can all experience what God has preordained for us to walk in. We are not waiting on God; He is waiting on us.

The world has its ideas about what it takes to be successful. They have their ideologies, and they have their formulas. Some of their ideas have caused success, but it has not guaranteed success. When we operate by the Word of God, we can know that success is imminent. We can know that God is watching over His Word to perform it. We can know that God is not a man that He should lie. We follow the commandments of the Word of God out of our love and respect for God; and as we follow them, we know that God will honor our obedience. The Bible tells us that it is the doer of the Word that is blessed and not the hearer only (James 1:22). As we are doers of the Word, we can expect the Blessing of the Lord to come upon us and overtake us. It may take patience. It may take diligence, but eventually we will walk in it, if we don’t quit and give up. God’s Word works.

God desires for us to experience His goodness. Every good gift and every perfect gift comes from above. God is a good God, and He wants us to experience His goodness all the time. The Bible tells us that He daily loads us with benefits (Psalm 68:19). God is constantly trying to bestow His blessings upon us. The Bible tells us that the blessing of Abraham will come upon us and overtake us as we diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord our God and obey His commandments (Deuteronomy 28:1,2). God has done His part. He has redeemed us from the curse of the law (Galatians 3:13). He has given us the ability to get wealth (Deuteronomy 8:18). He has given us all things that pertain to life and godliness (2 Peter 1:4). It’s on us now. Let’s pursue all that God has given us, and let’s not give up until we have obtained the promises.

Elijah was human just like us. He dealt with feelings, emotions and affections just like we do. Even though he was like us, he was still able to do mighty things through prayer. He prayed, and the rain ceased. When he prayed again, it rained again. A man was able to influence the weather. Elijah was not a child of God. He was not born again, and he was not a new covenant believer. He was simply a man who walked with God. Elijah was a man who co-labored with God and had influence with Him. Did you know that we can operate on that same level with God? As we develop a relationship with God and become established on what belongs to us, we can expect to go to a higher dimension and level in God. At this level, we can pray and EXPECT God to answer. It does not matter how big the problem is, God always has an answer. There is nothing too big for Him! Selah.

What a privilege to be called the children of God. We aren’t servants, even though we should serve God. We are His children. He loves us so much that He would call us His children. Despite our shortcomings. Despite our struggles. Despite our imperfections, God deemed it appropriate to call us His children. He doesn’t see us the way we often see ourselves; He sees us through the Blood of Jesus. God sees us as righteous. God sees us as kings and priests. When we make Jesus the Lord of our lives, it puts us in a different class. Because of this, the world does not know or recognize us. They did not know or acknowledge Jesus so we should expect no different. We are not of this world; we are of God! We should embrace this. We should meditate on this truth until it becomes a reality to us. We are the children of the almighty God, the Creator of the universe. When you finally get a revelation of this, it will change your life. It will change your perspective. It will take you to another level.

Nebuchadnezzar responded and said, “Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, who has sent His angel and rescued His servants who believed in, trusted in, and relied on Him! They violated the king’s command and surrendered their bodies rather than serve or worship any god except their own God." -Daniel 3:27-28 Amplified Bible

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego had gone all in for God. They refused to bow to the statue of the king, and they were willing to sacrifice their lives rather than to disobey God. Because of their commitment to God, God came through for Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Not only did God protect the three young men from the fire, but He also sent His angel to deliver them. Those young men were not only rescued but they were also promoted. We must realize that when we take a stand for God, He will take a stand for us. He will do the miraculous. He will send an angelic host. He will do whatever it takes to put His stamp of approval on us. God showed the king that those three Hebrew boys belonged to him, and when we stand for righteousness, God will do the same for us. God will always look out for His own. It pays to be in the household of faith.

Joshua died after living a long life. Not only did he enjoy a long life, but he also received his inheritance. Remember that Joshua was one of the twelve spies who spied out the land. Ten of the twelve brought an evil report, but Joshua brought back a good report. He and Caleb believed that they could take the land and walk in the inheritance that God had for them. Both walked in what God preordained for them to walk in. They held fast to their confession of faith and received after standing for over forty years. We can walk in all that God has for us if we will do the same. We must believe the Word of God and stand on it. We also must hold on to the Word until we attain what He has promised, regardless of how long it takes. God is not a man that He should lie. If we stand, He will come through. He always does.

Many have said that this is the dividing line of the Bible. Whatever is going on in your life, reading this will help determine who the source is. If it is stealing, killing, or bringing destruction, you know it's not God. Jesus clearly tells us what the thief comes to do. If good things are taking place, you know it's of God. He sent Jesus so that you can have life and have it more abundantly. I'm sure it grieves God when we accuse Him of doing what the enemy is responsible for. He loves us. He only wants the best for our lives, and we should settle for nothing less. Jesus came that we should experience life and life more abundantly.

Sometimes we can allow our emotions to get the best of us. Sometimes, we may want to tell everyone what we have been through and how we feel about it. We want people to feel what we feel, but that is not always a good thing. In the book of James, we are told to be quick to hear and slow to speak (James 1:19). We must be disciplined with our tongues. We cannot allow ourselves to get angry to the point where we fly off the handle and say things we will regret later. We must be willing to stay quiet until we are ready to speak, and when we are not speaking from a place of anger. We must not allow our emotions to rule us. We must allow our spirit man to dominate us. He is to be in control, especially if our spirit man has been born again. Jesus was always in control of His emotions, and as we continue to mature spiritually, we can do the same thing.

Hope is important. The Bible tells us that “hope deferred makes the heart sick” (Proverbs 13:2). We should never deprive people of hope. Faith is the substance of things hoped for... (Hebrews 11:1). You could look at it like this: hope is the blueprint, and faith is the materials to make the blueprint a reality. We must not belittle hope. The Bible tells us that Abraham “against hope believed in hope” (Romans 4:18). Abraham had to hope when the circumstances told him what he believed for was impossible. He had to find hope in what God had told him. That is how we maintain our hope. We keep our faith in what God has told us, and we believe it because it is impossible for God to lie. Hope is to be the anchor to our soul. We must hope continually and continue to praise Him more. We must praise Him because He is the God of hope. He can turn every negative situation around.

At some point in our lives, we will the mark. We will make a mistake or sin. When we miss the mark, we should always go to God. God is merciful. He tells us that if we confess our sins, He will forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (I John 1:9). Sometimes when we make mistakes, we have been like Adam and run away from God. God doesn’t want us to hide from Him or ignore Him. He wants to love on us. He wants us to know that we are forgiven. We must forsake our sins and endure to live a clean and upright life before God. What we can’t do is try to cover our transgressions. That’s what David did. He sinned with Bathsheba and then once she became pregnant, He tried to cover it up by having her husband killed. That decision cost him a lot. Even though God forgave him, the consequences of that sin were very grave. Thank God we serve a merciful God; a God that is not only merciful, but a forgiving as well. Oh, how He loves you and me!

As New Testament believers, we have a better covenant with better promises. We are not required to sacrifice animals to atone for our sins. There was one sacrifice that took the place of the other sacrifices. The blood of Jesus cleanses us from sin, not the blood of animals. We still have access to the Blessings of the Old Testament. We have a better covenant because we have a better standing with Christ. We are not only cleansed from sin, but we can come boldly and obtain help in the time of trouble. We are righteous through Him. We have authority through Him. He has redeemed us from the curse. This new covenant is so much better than the old. We serve a good God!

There are times in life when we must turn from everything around us and look to Jesus. One way we look to Jesus is by looking to His Word. We are to walk by faith and not by sight. We are to turn away from everything that would distract us from the Word of God. While we are waiting for the fulfillment of the promise, sometimes we must endure. Sometimes, we must ignore the shame. We must fight the good fight of faith until we obtain what God has promised us. God would not ask us to do something that He would not do. If Jesus could endure, then we can endure. If Jesus could ignore the shame, so can we. If we are willing to do what Jesus did, we can get the same results that Jesus obtained.

The Bible tells us that the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23). The people had suffered because of their transgressions. They found themselves on the road of destruction because of the lifestyle that they were living. The good news is that they came to themselves. Thank God that we can always come to ourselves. They cried out to the Lord in their distress, and God rescued them. He did not tell them that they needed to suffer a little while longer because of the severity of their sins. He came to them as soon as they cried out to Him. He healed, saved, and restored them. He has not changed. It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been going down the wrong path; you can always turn around and get on the right track. You can always cry out to the Lord with a sincere heart, and He will rescue you. He will redeem your life from destruction. He will rescue you from the pit.

She begged Jesus to throw the demon out of her daughter. He responded, “The children have to be fed first. It isn’t right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs.” But she answered, “Lord, even the dogs under the table eat the children’s crumbs.” “Good answer!” he said. “Go on home. The demon has already left your daughter.” When she returned to her house, she found the child lying on the bed and the demon gone.” -Mark 7:25-30 Common English Bible

This woman was desperate. Her daughter was being tormented by a demon, and she knew that Jesus could set her daughter free. Jesus did not say He would help her daughter, but then again, He didn’t say would not help her. He simply told her that one does not give bread to the dogs. The Syrophoenician was not moved. Nothing would hinder her from receiving what she needed from Jesus. Her response to Jesus not only caused a favorable response from Jesus but also caused her daughter to be set free from the oppression of the enemy. When we want something from God, we must not give up until we get what we came for. We must persist. We cannot be moved by what we see. We cannot be moved by what we hear. The circumstances cannot move us. Having done all to stand, we stand. Faith stands until it receives. We must do the same.

Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord And said, Remember [earnestly] now, O Lord, I beseech You, how I have walked before You in faithfulness and in truth, with a whole heart [absolutely devoted to You], and have done what is good in Your sight. And Hezekiah wept bitterly. Then came the word of the Lord to Isaiah, saying, Go, and say to Hezekiah, Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father: I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; behold, I will [a]add to your life fifteen years.” -Isaiah 38:1-5 Amplified Bible Classic Edition

It wasn’t the will of God for Hezekiah to die prematurely. If it was the will of God for Hezekiah to die, He would have told Hezekiah that it was His will for Him to die, and there would have been nothing he could do to stop it. Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and sought the Lord. He reminded God of his faithfulness and devotion to Him and reminded Him that He had done what was right in His sight. This caused God to intervene in Hezekiah’s situation, and He added fifteen more years to His life. God also healed what would have caused Hezekiah to die prematurely. When we receive a bad report, we don’t have to receive it. We can go to God, receive His wisdom or simply stand on His Word, and change that negative report. God is on our side. God is never our problem; He is always our answer. No matter what we face in life, God can turn it around.
