📖 "Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” -Philippians 4:11-13 New King James Version

It does not matter where we find ourselves in life, we are to be content. You may not be in the ideal house. You may not be driving your dream car on the way to your dream job, but God expects you to be content. Don’t confuse contentment with satisfaction. Wherever you may find yourself, realize that it is only for a season. God will take you from glory to glory. Paul learned the power of contentment. He knew how to be full and how to deal with hunger. He knew that through Christ, he can overcome every situation that was contrary to the Word of God. If he was in prison, he knew it was temporary. If he was shipwrecked, he knew it was temporary. He wrote to the Corinthian church that the things seen are temporary. (II Corinthians 4:18) No matter what we face in life, we face it knowing that we will win. We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.

📖 "This is that Moses who said to the children of Israel, ‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Him you shall hear.’ “This is he who was in the congregation in the wilderness with the Angel who spoke to him on Mount Sinai, and with our fathers, the one who received the living oracles to give to us, whom our fathers would not obey, but rejected. And in their hearts they turned back to Egypt, saying to Aaron, ‘Make us gods to go before us; as for this Moses who brought us out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.” -Acts 7:37-40 New King James Version

We must protect our hearts. We must guard our minds. Despite seeing the miracles of God, the Israelites, allowed their hearts to be turned back to Egypt. They did not remember the bondage. They did not remember the turmoil or the mistreatment. Instead of waiting on God’s plan to develop, they went back to what was familiar, even when the familiar wasn’t good for them. When we make Jesus the lord of our lives, we must turn our back on the world. Satan will attempt to lure us back. Satan will try to bring up all the fun you had, and he will do everything he can to get a foothold back into your life. We cannot allow that. We must stay the course. We continue to walk with God. We cannot allow ourselves to be contaminated by the world. If we will stay in the Word and fellowship with God, that won’t happen. We must remember that we are pilgrims that are just passing through. Our citizenship is in heaven.

📖 "And the patriarchs, becoming envious, sold Joseph into Egypt. But God was with him and delivered him out of all his troubles, and gave him favor and wisdom in the presence of Pharaoh, king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt and all his house.” -Acts 7:9-10 New King James Version

With so much going on in our world, it can be hard to maintain peace. Rising food and gas prices could cause the average person to worry and have anxiety about the necessities of life. But we have a God! We don’t operate through the world’s economy; we operate through Heaven’s economy. The Bible tells us that God will meet our needs according to His riches and glory (Philippians 4:19). Jesus told us to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all the other things will be added unto us. Tribulation will come. Trials will come, but we must remember that Jesus has overcome the world. His victory is our victory. We can have peace in this world because we have a covenant with Almighty God. He has told us that He will never leave us nor forsake us. We can have peace in this world if we will keep our mind stayed on Him.

📖 "Jesus knew what the Pharisees were planning. So he left that place, and many people followed him. He healed all who were sick,” -Matthew 12:15 Easy to Read Version

Jesus was aware that the Pharisees were meeting to figure out how to destroy Him. He didn’t complain. He didn’t cry the blues. He didn’t ask “Why me God”? He simply left that place and continued to do what He was sent to do. He didn’t allow the plot and schemes of the enemy to deter Him from His mission. He continued to heal the sick. He didn’t heal a few sick, He healed all who were sick. It didn’t matter how many were sick. It didn’t matter what the sickness was, Jesus healed it. Jesus was a man of focus. He was a man of discipline. It didn’t matter what went on in His life, He never deviated from His purpose. We must do the same. We must not deviate from our purpose. No matter what happens in our lives, we must continue to press toward the mark of the high calling of God. We must stay focused!

📖 "When Jesus departed from there, two blind men followed Him, crying out and saying, “Son of David, have mercy on us!” And when He had come into the house, the blind men came to Him. And Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.” Then He touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith let it be to you.” -Matthew 9:28-29 New King James Version

Can you believe that God can do whatever you need Him to do? Do you believe that He can pay your bills? Do you believe that He can heal your body? Do you believe that He can get your loved ones out of the world and back into the church? Our believing will determine what God can do in our lives. The blind men received their sight because they believed that Jesus could heal them. Their believing caused them to follow Him and to cry after Him. Your believing will always cause you to act. Thank God for faith. Thank God that our faith can make us whole. It doesn’t matter what area of our lives it may be; faith can make us whole. According to your faith, let it be to you.

📖 "For the Lord your God walks in the midst of your camp, to deliver you and give your enemies over to you; therefore your camp shall be holy, that He may see no unclean thing among you, and turn away from you. -Deuteronomy 23:14 New King James Version

We should desire the presence of the Lord wherever we are. Our desire should be for Him to walk where we walk, and to go where we go. We don’t want anything in our lives that would hinder God from walking with us. We serve a holy God. We serve a righteous God. We don’t want God turning away from us because of the music we are listening to or the movies that we are watching. We don’t want to grieve the Spirit of God. We should always be cognizant of God’s presence. The question should be asked, “Would God want to be where I am going?” Would He want to listen to what I am listening to? If God is holy, we should be holy. We are to be sanctified unto our God. We must come out from among them and be separate. We must not touch the unclean thing. For then He will be a Father to us and will be His sons and daughters (2 Corinthians 6:17-18).

📖 "And Lot looked and saw that everywhere the Jordan Valley was well watered. Before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, [it was all] like the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt, as you go to Zoar. Then Lot chose for himself all the Jordan Valley and [he] traveled east. So they separated. Abram dwelt in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelt in the cities of the [Jordan] Valley and moved his tent as far as Sodom and dwelt there. But the men of Sodom were wicked and exceedingly great sinners against the Lord.” -Genesis 13:10-13 Amplified Bible Classic Edition

We have to make sure that we always consult the Lord before making major decisions in our lives. A separation needed to take place between Lot and Abram because their substance had become great, and they could no longer co-exist. Lot looked at Sodom and Gomorrah and chose that place because it looked like the garden of the Lord. He based his decision on what He saw. As believers, we are to be led by the Spirit of God when it comes to the major decisions of our lives. God knows what we don’t know. He sees what we don’t see. We must always endeavor to be in tune with the Spirit of God so that we can always be in sync with Him. He always knows what’s best for us. Every good Father will do what is best for their children. We can expect no less from God.

📖 "But the centurion replied to Him, Lord, I am not worthy or fit to have You come under my roof; but only speak the word, and my servant boy will be cured. When evening came, they brought to Him many who were under the power of demons, and He drove out the spirits with a word and restored to health all who were sick.” -Matthew 8:8;16 Amplified Bible Classic Edition

The centurion recognized the authority of Jesus’ words. Demons were driven out by Jesus’ words. Jesus would minister by the laying on of hands, but He would also minister healing through His words. There was power in Jesus’ words, and there is power in our words. Death and life are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21) Jesus spoke to a tree and the fig tree died. He calmed the storm with His words. He spoke to fevers, and they left. There was power in what He said then and there is power in what He says to us. We were created in His image and in His likeness. If His words have power, then so are ours.

📖 "Now when they saw the boldness and unfettered eloquence of Peter and John and perceived that they were unlearned and untrained in the schools [common men with no educational advantages], they marveled; and they recognized that they had been with Jesus.” -Acts 4:13 Amplified Bible Classic Edition

Peter and John had no formal education. They were unlearned and ignorant men. None of that mattered because of the informal training they received from Jesus. The mentorship they received propelled them for the ministry they were entering. They had learned from the best. Their training was more valuable and extensive than anything they could have learned in any school. Education is essential, but receiving training from God is even more important. God’s training will prepare you for what He has for you. Formal education may require you to take classes you will never use in your life, but God’s training is never wasted time. He will take you to a place that will have people marveling. They will know that you have been with Jesus.

📖 "Then he went down and dipped himself seven times in the Jordan, as the man of God had said, and his flesh was restored like that of a little child, and he was clean. Then Naaman returned to the man of God, he and all his company, and stood before him. He said, Behold, now I know that there is no God in all the earth but in Israel. So now accept a gift from your servant. Elisha said, As the Lord lives, before Whom I stand, I will accept none. He urged him to take it, but Elisha refused" -2 Kings 5:14-16 Amplified Bible Classic Edition

Naaman almost missed out on his miracle. The man of God told him to dip seven times in the Jordan, but Naaman initially would not do it. He expected the prophet to give him a different set of instructions. Finally, one of his servants talked him into obeying the man of God, and he received a miracle. He was cleansed from leprosy, and his flesh was restored. When we obey whatever God has instructed us to do, there is always a blessing attached to it. God will never tell us to do something that would be harmful to us. The Bible tells us that if we are willing and obedient, we will eat the good of the land (Isaiah 1:19). God wants us to eat good, and He wants us to live good as well, but it all starts with obedience to His Word.

📖 "Oh, that men would praise [and confess to] the Lord for His goodness and loving-kindness and His wonderful works to the children of men!” -Psalm 107:8 Amplified Bible Classic Edition

God has been good to us. At the time that one makes Jesus the Lord of their life, they are adopted into the family of God. We are not just His children, but we are heirs of God and joint heirs with Jesus Christ. There is no reason that we should not be praising God on a consistent basis. Every promise that we read about in God’s Word reflects His goodness and lovingkindness towards us. The promises of God are enough to praise our God. The blessings of God are enough to cause us to praise God. The fact that God has a plan for our lives is enough to give God praise. Oh, that men would praise the Lord for His goodness and His lovingkindness toward us.

📖 "For this sign of healing had been performed on a man over forty years old.” -Acts 4:22 CSB

A man who had been unable to walk was healed after he encountered Peter and John walking into the temple. The man had been unable to walk his whole life yet when he acted on Peter's command, he was instantly healed. The man had been lame for forty years. This goes to prove that it doesn't matter how long you may have been suffering with a condition, God can turn it around. God can heal anything, regardless of how long it's been in your body. God can turn any and every negative situation around. All things are possible to them that believe.

📖 "And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret,

The people pressed upon Jesus because they wanted to hear the Word of God. They understood the importance of hearing the Word. They valued the person delivering the Word, and they valued the words that were coming out of His mouth. They knew that His words were spirit and life. The Word has not changed. It has not lost its power. We at times don’t press the way we should. We don’t hunger and thirst for righteousness. We must maintain our hunger for the Word and place it first in our lives. We must continue to “press” like the people did when Jesus was on the earth. The same Word that changed lives then still changes lives now. Let’s press in!

📖 "If your right eye serves as a trap to ensnare you or is an occasion for you to stumble and sin, pluck it out and throw it away. It is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be cast into hell (Gehenna). And if your right-hand serves as a trap to ensnare you or is an occasion for you to stumble and sin, cut it off and cast it from you. It is better that you lose one of your members than that your entire body should be cast into hell (Gehenna)." -Matthew 5:29-30 Amplified Bible Classic Edition

There is nothing in this world worth going to hell for. Nothing. Money isn’t worth it. Another person isn’t worth it. Neither is a better job or vehicle—none of these things are worth missing Heaven over. Jesus said in our text that if your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out. If your hand is causing you to sin, cut it off. Now Jesus isn’t telling us to literally cut out our eyes or cut off our hands. He is simply making a point not to let anything cause you to miss Heaven. The things of this earth are temporary. Eternity is forever. Don’t miss Heaven!

📖 "You are light for the world. A city cannot be hidden when it is located on a hill. No one lights a lamp and puts it under a basket. Instead, everyone who lights a lamp puts it on a lamp stand. Then its light shines on everyone in the house. In the same way let your light shine in front of people. Then they will see the good that you do and praise your Father in heaven." -Matthew 5:14-16 God’s Word Translation

We are the light of the world. We are God’s representatives in the earth. Our behavior and deeds give people an example of the kingdom that we represent. Jesus told the people that when they saw Him, they saw the Father. He was a representation of what the Father was like. We are to do the same. People should watch our behavior and see that there is a difference between us and the world. Jesus even instructed us to do things differently. He told us to love our enemies. He told us to pray for those who despitefully use us. He told us that if someone hits us, we are to turn the other cheek. Doing those things will show people that you are peculiar. They will see that you are not of this world. They will see that you are a citizen of Heaven, a citizen of the kingdom of God.

When you make Jesus the Lord of your life, your life will not remain the same. The Word of God tells us that, “the path of the just is as a shining light, it shineth more and more unto the perfect day (Proverbs 4:18). We are to go from faith to faith and glory to glory. As we walk with God, He will raise us up from the ash heap, and cause us to sit with nobles. He will lift us up out of the dust. He will redeem our lives from destruction. God will restore what the enemy has destroyed and cause the havoc to cease in our lives. God will turn our mourning into joy. He will set our feet on solid ground. He will never leave you the way He found you.

📖 "If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin crouches at your door; its desire is for you, but you must master it." -Genesis 4:7 Amplified Bible Classic Edition

Sin desires to take you out. It came into the earth because of the fall. Sin comes to steal, kill, and destroy, and it comes to put you under the authority of the devil. Sin comes to have dominion and mastery over us. We must not succumb to sin’s desire. We must resist sin just like we would resist someone who is trying to take our houses and cars. The things that used to trip us up in the past should not be able to trip us up repeatedly. We have the divine life of God on the inside of us. We can live a life free from sin.

📖 "By mercy and love, truth and fidelity [to God and man—not by sacrificial offerings], iniquity is purged out of the heart, and by the reverent, worshipful fear of the Lord men depart from and avoid evil." -Proverbs 16:6 Amplified Bible Classic Edition

God wants any iniquity and sin to be removed from our lives. That’s the reason He sent Jesus into the world. However, in order to keep iniquity out of our heart, we must walk in mercy, love, truth and fidelity towards God. To put that in more simpler terms: we must grow in our relationship with God and in our knowledge of the things of God. Growing in the knowledge of God simply grows out of time spent in the Word of God. Keeping His Word in our hearts causes a reverent fear of the Lord, and it will keep us from living a lifestyle of sin. God is merciful, and God is love. We must not abuse the mercy God extends to us, and we must not take His love for granted. We must grow closer to Him, more and more.

📖 Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.” -Psalm 68:19 King James Version

Have you received your benefits today? Everyday God wants to unleash His goodness on us. He desires us to be beneficiaries of His kindness. Every good gift and every perfect gift come from Him. As believers, every day is a good day. As children of God, we expect something good to happen to us. We should expect His favor. We should expect Him to supply our daily bread. The world expects gifts on certain days. They expect gifts on birthdays, Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, etc. We should expect something good to happen to us every day, because He loads us daily with benefits. God is good.
