📖 Long ago when the Israelis escaped from Egypt, from that land of foreign tongue, then the lands of Judah and of Israel became God’s new home and kingdom.

The Red Sea saw them coming and quickly broke apart before them. The Jordan River opened up a path for them to cross. The mountains skipped like rams, the little hills like lambs! What’s wrong, Red Sea, that made you cut yourself in two? What happened, Jordan River, to your waters? Why were they held back? Why, mountains, did you skip like rams? Why, little hills, like lambs?

Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord, the God of Jacob. For he caused gushing streams to burst from flinty rock. —Psalm 114 The Living Bible

No obstacle can stand in the way of an individual who walks with God. The Red Sea, the mountains, and the Jordan River all fled from the Lord. We know that this Psalm is more figurative than literal, (except the Red Sea and the Jordan River), but the point remains the same. God will remove kings for our sakes. He will bring down the mighty, if needed. He will go before us and make the crooked places straight. There is nothing that can hinder us or stop us with almighty God beside us. A man of God once said that if “Godzilla, Rodan, and Mothra were walking down the street with us, we would have no fear because of who was walking with us”. Well, we have one mightier than a few Hollywood monsters walking with us. We have the Creator of the universe with us. Fear needs to be a thing of the past. If God be for us, who can be against us?

📖 But Jesus replied, ‘No! The Bible says that food alone cannot cause people to live. They need to hear every word that God speaks. That is what gives them true life.’

If we are going to be successful in our Christian Walk, we must realize that food alone will not sustain us. Food will sustain our physical body, but we need more than physical sustenance. We must also feed our spirit man. Your spirit man will sustain you when you are overcoming an attack from your spiritual enemy. When your spirit man is strong, it will help to keep your body strong. It will help keep your mind strong, especially when the devil is trying to get you to quit. The Word of God is the anchor to your soul. The Word anchors our mind through troubling times because we know that it is impossible for God to lie. When the disciples got on the boat to get to a certain place, Jesus told them, “Let’s go to the other side”. Later, as they were traveling, a storm arose, and it looked as if they were not going to make it. Jesus’ words and His presence should have been enough to anchor their minds and their emotions. Instead of focusing on Jesus’ words, they focused on the storm and Jesus had to rebuke the storm. He then rebuked them for having little faith. If our faith is going to grow, we must feed on the Word of God. If we want to experience true life, we must hear every word that God speaks.

All nations will come to your light; mighty kings will come to see the glory of the Lord upon you.

It's time for God’s people to arise. The world is filled with darkness. The world is under the influence of Satan, who is the ruler of this world’s system. We are the light of the world, the salt of the earth. We have what the world so desperately needs. We have hope. We have a savior. We have the answer and His Name is Jesus. Jesus is the answer to humanity’s problems. He came to set the captive free and we are His representatives. We are His hands and His feet. He is the head, and we are His body. We cannot be afraid to let our light shine. The world is waiting for the manifestation of the sons of God.

📖 Ask the Lord for rain in the springtime, and he will answer with lightning and showers. Every field will become a lush pasture. How foolish to ask the idols for anything like that!

Fortune-tellers’ predictions are all a bunch of silly lies; what comfort is there in promises that don’t come true? Judah and Israel have been led astray and wander like lost sheep; everyone attacks them, for they have no shepherd to protect them.

What are your expectations like? Are you expecting big things from God? Whatever it is that you have need of, God can supply it. Are you in need of healing? He can supply. Are you in need of finances? He can supply it. God can do whatever you need Him to do. The issue is not His ability, the issue is your believing. Do you have the capacity to believe in Him for a miracle? Jesus asked the blind men, “Do you believe that I can make you see?” (Matthew 9:28 LB) Believing always proceeds receiving. You must believe before you can see. Believing is the prerequisite for receiving. There is nothing wrong with God’s ability. If you can believe, you will see the glory of God! (John 11:40)

DAILY DEVOTIONAL | January 27th

📖 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. 

For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. 
—I Corinthians 3:18-19 KJV

The Word of God tells us to come out from among them (the world) and be separate. We are to be separate from the world because Satan is the god of this world (2 Corinthians 4:4). We do not want to embrace the values or wisdom of this world. That is one reason the Bible tells us to renew our minds. God wants our thinking to be in line with His Word. God’s Word is His Wisdom. The Wisdom of God is foolishness to the world because God’s way of doing things goes against the ideals of the world. The wisdom of this world is “earthly, sensual, and devilish” (James 3:15). We should seek the wisdom that is from above because it is pure, peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy, and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy (James 3:17). God’s ways are higher than our ways, but so is His Wisdom. Let’s stay away from the wisdom of this world, and let's embrace the wisdom that comes from God. We always come out on top when
we do.

As we continue to walk with God, we must continue to renew our minds to the Word of God. God has given us His Word to change our thinking. In order to live on a higher level, we must think on a higher level because as a man thinketh, so is he (Proverbs 23:7). Our outer world is simply a reflection of our inner world. As we feed on the Word of God, it will change our image. It will change how we see yourself and a correlation will take place on the outside. God doesn’t have limitations. All things are possible with Him. His Word tells us that all things are possible with us as well. We are made in God’s image, and we are capable of living in victory the way He walks in victory. The Word of God even tells us that as He is (Jesus), so are we in this world. God expects us to rule and reign as kings in this life. As we renew our minds to the Word of God, eventually we will.

Only fools make a mockery of sin. As believers, we are to be sober-minded about the wages of sin. The Bible tells us that the wages of sin is death. Adam and Eve underestimated the cost of sin. It cost them everything. Sin will mock us if we don’t stay free from it. We must stay away from sin and embrace righteousness and the dividends it pays. The text tells us that among the upright, there is favor with God. We only tend to gain when we do things God’s way. Obedience doesn’t cost, it pays. It always pays to serve God.

📖 Don’t be in any rush to become a teacher, my friends. Teaching is highly responsible work. Teachers are held to the strictest standards. And none of us is perfectly qualified. We get it wrong nearly every time we open our mouths. If you could find someone whose speech was perfectly true, you’d have a perfect person, in perfect control of life. 
—James 3:1-2 The Message

One area of our lives that we must constantly stay on top of are the words of our mouths. According to James, if you want to be a perfect person, you must have perfect speech. None of us have arrived in this area, but it is something that we can improve on at all times. We can improve our reactions when we receive a bad report. We can be like Jairus when he received a bad report in reference to his daughter. He said nothing. He had already said what he desired when he approached Jesus, and he said nothing else. His discipline with his words allowed him to see the miraculous. He saw Jesus raise his daughter from the dead. If you want to stay in control of your life, you must stay in control of your words. You show me a person whose life is out of control, and there is a strong possibility that their words helped them to get to that place. When the devil attacks, watch your mouth. When life gets tough, watch your words. God has given us a means in which we can maintain control of our lives, even through difficult times. If you can stay in control of your words, you can stay in control of your life.

As believers we are to look to and depend on heaven’s resources. The mistake that many believers have made is that they look to their own resources and live a life that falls short of the life that God has for them. We are citizens of heaven. We are in the family of God. Because of these truths, we can access the good and valuable things that God has in store for us. God tells us that He has given us all things that pertain to life and godliness (2 Peter 1:4). We receive from heaven, but the resources come through the earth. We have to take our eyes off the earth if we are going to receive from heaven. Heaven is our source. The earth is just the channel in which we receive from Heaven. Keep your eyes on God. Keep your eyes on His Word. God will give to you everything that you need when you put your trust in Him.

📖 God is not a human being, and he will not lie. He is not a human, and he does not change his mind. What he says he will do, he does [will he not do it?]. What he promises, he makes come true [ will he not fulfill it/make it come true?]. —Numbers 23:19 Expanded Bible

We cannot look at God the way that we look at other human beings. God is not a man, and He does not lie. God will not change His mind concerning His children. He promises to meet every need in our lives (Philippians 4:19). If He promised to do it, then we can definitely count on Him to do it. The Word of God says that we are redeemed, so that means we are. It tells us that we are healed, so that means that we are. Whatever the Word says we are, that is what we are. When we believe in His Word and stand on His promises, we experience the reality of those promises. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but God’s Word will never pass away (Matthew 24:35). God always comes through. He can be depended upon.

📖 Then the two tribes of Joseph came to Joshua and asked, “Why have you given us only one portion of land when the Lord has given us such large populations?” 

“If the hill country of Ephraim is not large enough for you,” Joshua replied, “and if you are able to do it, you may clear out the forest land where the Perizzites and Rephaim live.” 

“Fine,” said the tribes of Joseph, “for the Canaanites in the lowlands around Beth-shean and the valley of Jezreel have iron chariots and are too strong for us.” 

“Then you shall have the mountain forests,” Joshua replied, “and since you are such a large, strong tribe you will surely be able to clear it all and live there. And I’m sure you can drive out the Canaanites from the valleys, too, even though they are strong and have iron chariots.” 
—Joshua 17:14-18 The Living Bible

The two tribes mentioned believed that they deserved more because of their large numbers. They were attempting to use their numbers as leverage to get more land. Joshua used their numbers to challenge them. He believed that they should take advantage of their numbers and use them to get more land if they really believed they needed more than what was given them. They were to use their numbers not only to take more ground, but also to drive out the inhabitants of the land. If we believe that there is more here for us, we must go get it. It is not just going to just fall in our lap. No one owes us anything. We owe it to ourselves to go out and take all that belongs to us. If what we have isn’t enough, we must be willing to take more ground. We must take responsibility for where we currently are, not make excuses. God has given us all the tools for victory, we must simply use them.

📖 Now Samuel grew; and the Lord was with him and He let none of his words fail [to be fulfilled]. —I Samuel 3:19 AMP

When God is with you, success is inevitable. As we walk with God and follow His orders, we can ensure that we will stay on a path of success and prosperity. Isaiah 1:19 tells us that if we will be willing and obedient, we will eat the good of the land. One way we can stay on a successful path is to speak the Word of God. When we speak the Word, God will see to it that none of your words will fail to be fulfilled. Jesus is the high priest of our confession. He is watching and listening to what we are saying. He told Moses that He was going to give the people exactly what they were saying in His ear. God is watching over His Word to perform it (Jeremiah 1:12). If God is going to fulfill our words, we must make sure our words line up with His. If we will think like God, talk like God, and act like God, it’s just a matter of time before we live like God. He lives a life of victory!

Have you been limiting the Holy One of Israel in your life? Many times, God desires to do so much more than what we are currently experiencing because of unbelief. Jesus could only heal a few sick folks in His hometown because of their unbelief. Unbelief hindered them from receiving, and it will do the same thing in our lives if we allow it. God desires to do exceedingly, abundantly above all that we could ever ask or think. Let’s not hinder God in any area of our lives. Let’s allow Him to do more in our finances, our health, our relationships, and any other area of our lives. God wants to show Himself strong in our lives, let’s allow Him to do so.

“There is a time appointed for every matter and purpose and for every work.” Many times, we emphasize finding the will of God for our lives. It is important for us to know what we were put on this earth to do. Even though that is key, it is also important for us to get the right timing. When are we supposed to start that business? When do we pursue that degree? When do we get married? When do we purchase a home? God has a timing for the major events in our lives and we must stay in tune with Heaven so that we don’t miss God’s timing. God wants to lead and guide us in every area of our lives, including God’s timing. Our success is not only in finding the will of God but also knowing His timing. There was a timing to Jesus coming to the earth. There was a timing concerning Moses and the delivery of the Israelites. There was always a timing to the major events in the Bible and there is a timing to the major events for our lives. You want to walk in God’s best, walk in God’s timing.

📖 It is true that I am an ordinary, weak human being, but I don’t use human plans and methods to win my battles. I use God’s mighty weapons, not those made by men, to knock down the devil’s strongholds. —II Corinthians 10: 3-4

In the natural world, we may appear to be human beings, but we have access to something that is greater than our mortality. We have the Greater One on the inside of us. Not only is He living on the inside of us, but He has also given us access to His armory. Because we have a supernatural enemy, a natural, carnal weapon won’t do. A natural weapon will not subdue a supernatural outlaw. God has given us His mighty weapons to bring down the devil’s strongholds. The devil doesn’t have to cause havoc in our lives. God has given us His armor and He has given us the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. God has given us His Spirit. He has given us a measure of faith to overcome the world. God has invested so much into our winning that we cannot let Him down. If we desire to please the Father, we must use what He has given us. If we want to win in life, God has given us the means to do so. We are without excuse.

📖 And God saw everything that He had made, and behold, it was very good (suitable, pleasant) and He approved it completely. And there was evening and there was morning, a sixth day. —Genesis 1:31 AMPC 

After God finished his six days of creation, He looked at everything that He had made, and He approved it completely. One version says that He looked at “everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good (KJV)”. There was no sickness or disease in the earth when God originally created it. There was no sin, and there was no curse. Everything He made was good and He approved of it.  
 
God has not changed. The Bible even tells us that God “takes pleasure in the prosperity of His servant (Psalm 35:27).” God delights in our prosperity. He wishes above all things that we prosper and be in good health, even as our soul prospers (III John 2). Jesus even said that He came that we might have life and have it more abundantly (John 10:10). If there are things in your life that aren’t “good,” God has given you the ability to change it. He has given you authority, His Word, and faith to overcome. Don’t continue to settle for anything but God’s best for your life. God’s will is for you to flourish and to thrive. It always has been, and it always will be.

📖 And they said one to another, Come, let us make bricks and burn them thoroughly. So they had brick for stone, and slime (bitumen) for mortar. 

And they said, Come, let us build us a city and a tower whose top reaches into the sky, and let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered over the whole earth. 
—Genesis 11:3-4 AMPC

When it comes to conquering large tasks, we must be willing to reduce the big goal into smaller goals. You cannot build a city until you first bake a brick. Many times, we look at the goal or the task in its entirety, and we don’t focus on the smaller tasks that will ultimately cause the big goal to be accomplished. One man once said, instead of focusing on building a wall, start by focusing on laying one brick at time, because eventually, you will have a wall. It's the same way with life. Instead of focusing on building a great life, why not focus on having a great day? Take it one task at a time. One day at a time. As time goes on you can look back and look at the progress that has been made. Before you know it, you’ve lost weight. You’ve read the book. You’ve saved the money. Whatever the task may be, it can be accomplished, the key is consistency. You cannot build a city until you first bake a brick.

📖 Grace and spiritual blessing be to you and [soul] peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah), Who gave (yielded) Himself up [to atone] for our sins [and to save and sanctify us], in order to rescue and deliver us from this present wicked age and world order, in accordance with the will and purpose and plan of our God and Father. —Galatians 1:3-4 AMPC

Jesus came to deliver and set us free from this wicked present age. Satan is the god of this world (2 Cor. 4:4) and the whole world is under his influence (Eph.2: 3-4). The world is subject to the effects of the curse that is in the earth. The curse is the direct cause of sickness, disease, poverty, and death. The curse is the direct result of all the calamities that mankind faces. Jesus came into the earth and went to the cross so that we can be delivered from the curse. Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law (Galatians 3:13). God expects us to walk in victory. He expects us to take His Word and overcome the effects of the curse. We can overcome all the obstacles and challenges in our lives because Greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world. What a mighty God we serve!

Elijah was in a place where he had to trust God. He had obeyed God, and it was now time for God to come through. As we can see from the passage above, He came through. We can always count on God to confirm His Word. The Bible tells us that He is watching over His Word to perform it (Jeremiah 1:12). We can put our trust in God. We can trust that He will meet every need because He promised to (Philippians 4:19). He said He was our Healer so we can trust Him to heal us of every sickness and every disease (Exodus 15:26; 23:25). Regardless of what God tells us to do, we must be obedient and understand that if we are willing and obedient, we will eat the good of the land. Elijah obeyed God, and God came through. When we are obedient to the Word of God, we can expect the same.

The rich young ruler had the right motives, and he had the right heart. He wanted to inherit eternal life. He had kept the commandments from his youth. He only had one problem; he couldn’t let go of his riches. His unwillingness to walk away from his wealth revealed that his wealth really had him. As believers, we cannot allow anything to come between us and God. There cannot be anything in this world that we treasure more than our relationship with God. We cannot love anyone or anything, more than we love God. We must refrain from having idols in our lives. God should be number one in our lives, and nothing should take His place. Let us learn from the rich young ruler. Let us not allow anything in our lives to jeopardize our relationship with God. We must love the Lord our God with all of heart, with all of our soul, and with all of our strength (Deut. 6:5).
