Supreme Court continues hearings on Covid mandate
The US Supreme Court will resume on tomorrow hearing arguments against covid shot mandates. The hearing started last week and arguments on both sides should conclude soon. The Biden’s Administration’s mandate was suspended by OSHA until these hearings have concluded. Several state attorney generals sued the federal government after the mandates were passed through an executive order. The federal mandate has cost thousands of Americans their jobs, and shortages in key areas such as law enforcement and the medical field. The Biden Administration claims mandates are necessary to slow the spread of Covid-19. Critics say these kinds of mandates are an overreach of federal government and the beginning of socialism in America. Analysts believe the now more conservative Supreme court will vote against the mandates. The court is majority conservative at a 6 to 3. According to reports the justices have shown sympathy to the case from the state of Ohio and have voiced that OSHA does not have the power to enforce this kind of mandate.

Tennis player detained by Australian officials over covid shot
Conservatives here in the US are warning a case in Australia could be the future of the US without intervention. Australian officials are facing worldwide criticism after the detention of the number one tennis player in the world. Tennis star Novak Djokovic is currently being held in a detention hotel facing deportation from Australia due to his covid shot status. Djokovic has been a vocal opponent of the covid shot and has refused to disclose his medical history to Australian officials. Initially the government gave the tennis player an exemption to play in the Australian Open. Once he arrived in Australia, Djokovic was detained and threatened with being deported. The situation has caused issues between the nation of Serbia and Australia, where Djokovic is a citizen. The president of Serbia and the tennis player’s father have voiced their opposition to his detention. The tennis star has used the situation to point out others who are also detained in the same holding facility. Djokovic says the conditions in the facility are not good and they are being treated like criminals. Australian officials issued lockdowns in Melbourne where the tournament is held for most of its citizens in 2020 and 2021 totaling 256 days. Citizens in the area that have not received the shot can only leave their homes to buy groceries, care for a relative, or to go get the covid shot. According to reports the city of Melbourne has reported 92 percent of its residents have received the shot. New cases according to officials are rising in that city. A second tennis player has also been detained according to an update on this story because of her covid shot status.

A controversial sculpture is being removed from the UN. The beast according to the artist was a statue depicting a guardian of international peace and security. Critics pointed out that the statute, depicting a beast with the body of a jaguar, claws, and wings of a dragon resembled a similar description in the Bible that describes a beast in the Book of Revelation. The statue also was similar to the depiction of an Aztec and Mayan deity that was the god of chaos and war. A spokesperson for the UN says the statue was not permanent and the removal was planned long before the controversy. The statue was gifted by the government of Oaxaca located in Southern Mexico.

Pastor wins case in the UK
A pastor in the United Kingdom is celebrating a legal victory. Pastor Chizumie Dyer was fined in February of last year for literally witnessing the Gospel. The pastor was fined by Nottingham police for witnessing the Gospel and holding outdoor services for the homeless in her community. During the service, attendees were ministered to and fed a hot meal. Pastor Dyer was fined 21-thousand dollars for the outdoor services during nationwide lockdowns in Great Britain. According to reports, the pastor had filed the appropriate paperwork to have the gathering with the city prior to the event. However, police reporting to the scene claimed the worship service was illegal.  The Nottingham Magistrates Court ruled in favor of the pastor, ordering the local government to pay all legal fees. Pastor Dyer says she is pleased with the outcome and encouraged other Christians in Great Britain to remember the importance of witnessing the Gospel to the most vulnerable. She says some of the guests commented that they were contemplating suicide prior to attending this event.

USA Swimming officials resign over a transgender swimmer
A USA Swimming official has resigned saying she is taking a stand concerning a continuing controversy. Cynthia Millen submitted a letter of resignation near the end of the last year. In the letter, Millen said she could no longer take part in a sport that allows biological men to compete against women. The resignation stems from a swimmer allowed to participate on the University of Pennsylvania’s swim team. The swimmer is a biological man but claims to identify as a woman and has been allowed to swim with the women’s team. The swimmer had previously competed on the men’s team and is now dominating the women’s swim competitions. Millen along with other critics has pointed out the swimmer has an advantage over the female swimmers due to being a biological male. A larger lung capacity, and a larger skeletal frame, are just a few biological advantages that critics say males have over females. According to reports, female swimmers have left races literally in tears following meets against the swimmer; members of the University of Pennsylvania women’s swim team even contemplated boycotting their final race but feared persecution from the LGBT community. Cynthia Millen says allowing a biological male to swim against women in college races could end up destroying women’s competitive swimming. (the competitive swimmer goes by the name Lia Thomas and has commented on how “easy” swimming against biological women has been).

NC sheriff refuses to remove Bible scripture on an office wall
A North Carolina sheriff says he will not take down a sign after pressure from an atheist organization. Sheriff Jody Greene is refusing to remove a Bible scripture on a wall inside of the Columbus County Sheriff’s Department. The scripture, Philippians 4:13 is featured on the wall of the office building. The sheriff says the scripture inspires and motivates him and his staff as they strive to protect the community. Atheist organization Freedom from Religion Foundation says the scripture alienates a huge portion of the American population. Sheriff Greene responded to the organization on social media. In his post, the sheriff says he was raised in church and his motivation comes from Jesus Christ. Greene added that the department’s officers pray before serving warrants or any service that puts them in harm’s way. The scripture on the wall according to the sheriff was paid for by private donations, not public funds and he has no plans of taking it down.

Women’s shelter wins case in Alaska
A shelter in Alaska has won its case in court. Following a lengthy battle in court, an abused women’s shelter has won its case to not house transgender residents. The faith-based women’s shelter called Downtown Hope Center houses homeless women. Many of the shelter’s clients are victims of domestic violence, sex trafficking, and sexual assault. Attorneys for the shelter argued that allowing biological men to live in the shelter would be traumatic for residents. The case started after a man was dropped off at the shelter seeking to become a resident. The man was rejected and later sued because the man claimed to identify as transgender. (Story Note: the person claiming to be transgender turned up at the shelter drunk and apparently combative during the interaction. This was mentioned as a reason for the rejection in addition to his alleged gender status) Attorneys for Downtown Hope Center say they are pleased with the court’s decision.

United Airlines sued by suspended/former employees
United Airlines is being sued by some of its employees over covid shot exemptions. The lawsuit was filed following the company’s CEO threatening to fire employees filing for religious or medical exemptions. The lawsuit claims employees seeking medical and religious exemptions were placed on unpaid leave as punishment. 200 of the employees were later fired, while the others were laid-off.  The remaining two thousand were put on unpaid leave. Those left on unpaid leave later sued. The plaintiffs in the case claimed the firings violated United’s Health Freedom Clause. Critics including Senator Ted Cruz criticized United Airlines claiming the actions by the company are clearly discrimination. Critics further added the discrimination was unacceptable due to the company receiving millions in government funding to help the company from going bankrupt in 2020.

Swedish company touts covid passport chip as alternative
A Swedish company is sparking a renewed debate about implanting chips in humans. The company Epicenter, according to reports is highlighting its efforts to chip people with digital covid shot passport cards. The chip would be implanted in the right hand and would be used as an alternative to misplacing or carrying the card. The chip would be no larger than a grain of rice. It can be implanted in a person’s arm or hand (between the thumbs and the finger). The company claims it has been working on human-compatible tech for years. The Epicenter CEO says the chip allows convenience for those who have a covid passport. About six-thousand citizens in Sweden have had chips implanted into their bodies since 2014. The CEO of a UK company, BIO Teq says in 10-15 years micro-chipped humans will be “everywhere”. The technology is controversial because it mimics a system described in the Bible. Critics believe chipping humans is a trial run for a similar and larger-scale effort that could be attempted in the future.

SNBC Health report: Processed food and cognitive health
Scientists are reporting a correlation between eating a highly processed diet and cognitive health. According to research conducted by scientists at Marshall University, a person’s diet can affect their brain. Researchers fed mice what is largely considered a Western diet (mainly processed and fast foods). The study was conducted for 12 weeks. Scientists found the mice increased in body weight, showed insulin resistance, lowered oxygen levels, and low energy. The mice fed the Western diet also showed changes in behavior and a cognitive decline. The effects on mice fed a normal, healthy diet were reported as the exact opposite. Researchers advise limiting processed foods as much as possible and consuming whole foods as often as possible.

MERRY CHRISTMAS on behalf of the SNBC NEWS FOR LIFE Ministry of Helps team!

City Wide restrictions announced for city of Philadelphia
The city of Philadelphia is now added to the list of larger cities in the US that will require covid shot cards to enter indoor facilities. The city-wide mandate is expected to go into effect on January 3rd. The mandate will require presentation of a covid shot card or a negative test to enter indoor spaces. The restrictions will apply to venues that serve food indoors according to the city ordinance. This includes restaurants, hotels, sports venues, and movie theaters. Religious and medical exemptions will be approved only for children ages 5 and under. The city-wide mandate will further restrict guests entering, on January 17th allowing only those with covid shot cards after that date. Grocery stores and convenience stores will not be apart of the ordinance. City officials claim the ordinance is apart of trying to stop the spread of Covid-19. Critics call these restrictions the beginning of a socialist society. Several larger cities in the US including San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York City have also issued covid restrictions on indoor spaces, again citing stopping the spread of Covid-19.

Pharmaceutical company announces cash purchase of another company
Pfizer has announced some interesting business ventures during this time. The pharmaceutical company, which has been one of the leaders and distributors of developing the Covid shot announced it would acquire a company called Arena Pharmaceuticals. Arena Pharmaceuticals specializes gastroenterology, dermatology, and cardiology. The company also works on medicines concerning Crohn’s disease and inflammatory bowel issues. The deal was announced recently; Pfizer acquired Arena Pharmaceuticals for the sum of 6.7 billion dollars and paid for the deal in cash. The profits acquired by the main three companies involved in the Covid shot has been controversial over the past year. Critics have notably been vocal about the amount of money each company Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, and Pfizer have profited during the past year. Each company have issued at least three shots (two doses and a booster) to those who have taken it for free, at the cost of most governments around the world.  Israeli officials recently announced earlier this year their government has spent 788 million dollars on shots for its citizens and they expect to spend more money. The CEO of Pfizer announced recently that a fourth Covid shot is expected to be produced soon by his company to combat what is referred to as the Omicron variant.

In our SNBC HEALTH report: The importance of staying hydrated in the fall and winter.
According to some researchers most note that people tend to forget about the importance of staying hydrated year-round. According to registered dietician Elizabeth Hill, beverages like coffee, hot chocolate and tea may add to dehydration issues during the winter months. Hydration helps the body keep cool, helps with body weight, and helps with decreasing hunger. According to Hill factors in the fall and winter such as dropping temperatures, and a decrease in fluid loss due to cold temperatures maybe a factor in the decrease of water consumption. Signs of dehydration include a decrease in bathroom trips, dry mouth, headaches, and an increased craving for sugar are all signs of dehydration. The amount of water to consume is determined by a person’s body weight and height so it differs from person to person. Be sure to look online with trusted websites to find the amount of consumption appropriate for your body, or contact a trusted healthcare professional concerning how much water you should be consuming.
