Ohio State Congress overturns veto over trans health ban
The Ohio State legislature has voted to overturn a veto by that state’s governor. Governor Mike DeWine in a surprising move vetoed the bill following a vote by the state congress.  The Republican governor says that he spoke with parents of children receiving this kind of care. DeWine expressed the parents concern about their children’s mental health if they are denied care. The law would have prevented trans surgeries and medical procedures for underage children, including financial coverage from Medicaid. It will require mental health examinations, and protection for parents who choose to raise their child as its biological gender. The bill also included a ban on trans athletes in women’s sports in Ohio. State representatives in the House State House or Representatives overturned the veto; the same is expected in the state Senate which will officially make the bill a law in Ohio.

Biden Administration attempts to add woke policies
A new policy may prevent Christians from becoming foster parents. According to recent reports the Biden Administration is attempting to require certain “woke” policies to potential foster parents. The policy introduced by the Department of Health and Human Services, would require foster parents to undergo a cultural competency training course. The course would train potential foster parents to be accepting of a child who identifies with the LGBT community. Critics say the policy is a clear violation of free speech and is religious discrimination. Indiana Representative Jim Banks called the policy, “just plain wrong, and every sane person knows it.” American Family Association's director of the Center for Governmental Renewal called the policy well beyond a slippery slope. Taylor warned this kind of policy would lead to parents’ rights being replaced with government rule over children.

SNBC Health report: the importance of oral health and its overall effect on the body
The health of your teeth and gums is very important to the overall health of your body, according to researchers. Without proper oral hygiene, gingivitis can develop. This is an inflammatory disease caused by an accumulation of plaque, or bacteria, on your teeth that often leads to bleeding gums. If left untreated, it can lead to periodontitis, which is a more serious infection that can lead to teeth loss. Gum disease is often silent. In the initial stage of gingivitis, you may notice bleeding, swollen or receding gums, and later on mouth sores or bad breath. Gum disease, if not treated properly, can possibly lead to issues with the brain. Researchers suggest periodontal pathogens are possible contributors to neural inflammation. In other words, inflammation caused by gum disease can cause inflammation and infections in other parts of the body including the degenerative brain disease (Dementia). Regular brushing, flossing and getting regular cleanings with a mercury-free biological dentist, if possible, will go a long way toward keeping your teeth and gums healthy. A lifestyle that includes a diet based on fresh, whole foods is also essential to a naturally clean mouth and good oral health. For extra care, try “oil pulling” using coconut oil, which is antibacterial and antiviral and can reduce gingivitis and plaque. This procedure requires simply swishing it around your mouth, “pulling” it between your teeth and ensuring it moves around your entire mouth. After about 20 minutes, spit the oil out into the garbage (not the sink). You can use oil pulling daily along with regular brushing and flossing.

Couple appeals case to US Supreme Court
A couple in Indiana is taking their fight all the way to the US Supreme Court. The couple, Mary and Jeremy Cox say their child was removed from their custody due to liberal policies in their home state. The family was forced to relinquish custody of their oldest child for refusing to acknowledge the child’s gender identity. The child, whose identity has not been released was born male and claimed to identify as female. When the family refused to call the child by female pronouns and a female name, the state of Indiana stepped in claiming abuse. The state removed the child from the home, and claimed the child was at risk of neglect. The parents say their job is to keep their children safe and they will not adhere to transgender ideology due to their Christian faith. The Cox family was only allowed to see the child 2-3 hours a week in supervised visits; the child eventually aged out of foster care while in the state’s custody. The family has appealed and exhausted all avenues in the state of Indiana and has now appealed the case to the US Supreme Court. The parents say they want to protect their other minor children and other parents from the same ordeal they experienced.

Christian leaders respond to Pope’s change towards “same-sex couple blessings”
Christian leaders are speaking out after the head of the Catholic Church announced a major shift in policy. Pope Francis recently announced priests in the Catholic Church will be allowed to “bless” same-sex couples. A document was recently released from the Vatican, stating a blessing can be bestowed upon same-sex couples as long as it’s not confused with the ritual of marriage. The blessing ceremony according to the document cannot resemble a civil union or marriage; this includes clothing and words associated with this kind of ceremony. The president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary called the statement a “disaster”. Albert Mohler commented in his statement, “The object here is to bless what I believe scripturally can’t be blessed and shouldn’t be blessed.” Mohler added “This gesture is directly contrary to creation order and the expressed will of God.” Rev. Franklin Graham criticized Pope Francis in his statement. Rev. Graham quoted Isaiah 5:20 in his comments saying in part, “Pope Francis has not approved Catholic priests’ blessing same-sex couples, but none of us, including the Pope has the right to bless what God calls sin… Woe to those who call evil good and good evil.” Representatives from the Vatican defended their actions in the same document stating that marriage is a union between one man and one woman, but people seeking a blessing from God should not be required to have moral perfection.

A court of appeals has reinstated a lawsuit challenging male in female competition. Four students filed a lawsuit against the state of Connecticut’s Association of schools concerning fairness in competition. The controversy started in 2017 when two males, who claimed to identify as female competed in state sponsored high school track and field events. The two later shattered several state records dominating the field. Attorneys from Alliance Defending freedom are representing the students. They say Connecticut’s state policy violates federal laws, and reverses nearly 50 years of advances for women.
