I have a VERY important message for you about the state budget and how it impacts private school scholarships.

The budget includes:

Expanded eligibility for students with disabilities by allowing private school students and eliminates the requirement to attend public school the prior year

Combining the Disabilities Grant and Education Savings Account to ease confusion among the two programs

Expanded eligibility for Opportunity Scholarships and special needs scholarships to four year old students who meet the requirements of their private school of choice

Sounds good, right?

Well, Governor Roy Cooper has rejected ALL of this and has VETOED the budget.

We are not surprised, as he said "I don't like their vouchers" and that Opportunity Scholarships are "an expense we should stop." He recently wrote a letter to legislative leaders and said that cutting scholarships must be on the table.

We try not to ask too much of you, but your legislator's vote is critical to overriding his veto. I'm personally asking you to tell your legislator to override Governor Cooper's veto and urging your students' parents to do the same! You can click below for a quick way to contact your legislator.

I'M READY TO TELL MY LEGISLATOR TO PUT MY KIDS FIRST!
