📖 “The Lord turned to him and said, Go in this your might, and you shall save Israel from the hand of Midian. Have I not sent you? Gideon said to Him, Oh Lord, how can I deliver Israel? Behold, my clan is the poorest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house. The Lord said to him, Surely I will be with you, and you shall smite the Midianites as one man." -Judges 6:14-16 Amplified Bible Classic Edition

God desired to set His people free from the Midianites. Gideon was chosen by God to deliver the Israelites, but he did not have a positive self-image. He began to give God reasons why he couldn’t carry out what God had called him to do. Gideon must not have known that God is omniscient. He didn’t know that God knew he was the least in his father’s house. God knows everything about us. If He called us, then He has equipped us and knows what it takes for us to accomplish what He has called us to. We are what God says we are, and we can do what He says we can do. We must see ourselves the way He sees us. If you read the rest of the story, Gideon went on to defeat the Midianites, and Israel was free from their control. When we get to the place where we agree with God, we will experience victory as well.
