The Word of God is our guidebook. It is our instruction book to help us to navigate through life. The writer (Solomon) of this proverb tells his son to continually bind his words on his heart and tie them around his neck. He is simply reminding his son how important the Word is. He was trying to get him to understand its importance and that he should be constantly looking at it at all times. The Word will lead us, guide us, and it will talk to us as we read it, study it, and meditate on it.

When things happen in our lives, the Spirit of God will quicken a Scripture to us or remind us of something we read a few days prior. When we are facing lack, the Word will speak to us and remind us that God is our Shepherd, and we shall not lack (Psalm 23:1). We are facing sickness; we remind ourselves that God is our Healer, and He takes sickness away from our midst (Exodus 23:25). There is a promise in the Word of God for every situation we encounter, and we constantly remind ourselves of what God says, it will keep us. It will be an anchor for our souls, and it will keep us steady in an unsteady world.
