đź“– Don’t fool yourself into thinking that you are a listener when you are anything but, letting the Word go in one ear and out the other. Act on what you hear! Those who hear and don’t act are like those who glance in the mirror, walk away, and two minutes later have no idea who they are, what they look like.

But whoever catches a glimpse of the revealed counsel of God—the free life!—even out of the corner of his eye, and sticks with it, is no distracted scatterbrain but a man or woman of action. That person will find delight and affirmation in the action.
—James 1: 22-25 The Message

If we are going to experience the life that God has preordained for us, we must be doers of His Word and not hearers only. To experience the free life, there must be an obedient life. A life where we are committed to obeying the Word of God. The Word must be a part of us. We must take the time to read and meditate it so that we can know how we are supposed to live. Our lives become better when our ways line up with God's ways. Things become better when our thoughts are in line with God's thoughts. God's ways and His thoughts are found in His Word. We must see ourselves the way He sees us. The Word of God is our mirror. The Word of God is our standard for our self-esteem. Our value is not based on the world's perspective; it is based on God's. Let's not forget who we are. Let's be doers of the Word and not hearers only.
