📖 “What actually took place is this: I tried keeping rules and working my head off to please God, and it didn’t work. So I quit being a “law man” so that I could be God’s man. Christ’s life showed me how, and enabled me to do it. I identified myself completely with him. Indeed, I have been crucified with Christ. My ego is no longer central. It is no longer important that I appear righteous before you or have your good opinion, and I am no longer driven to impress God. Christ lives in me. The life you see me living is not “mine,” but it is lived by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I am not going to go back on that.” -Galatians 2:19-21 The Message
Our identification is in Jesus Christ. When Jesus was crucified, we should see ourselves on that cross. We should see our “old man” on that cross. We should our undesirable character traits and our shortcomings on the cross. The “old man” that was dominated by the sin nature should be on the cross, and now we allow Christ to live big on the inside of us. His nature should control us now. The fruit of the spirit should be manifesting in our lives. Our lives should be sustained by the life of God that is on the inside of us. We must allow people to see less of us and more of the Christ that is living on the inside of us. The more we act like Jesus, the more appealing Jesus is to the world. We are His representatives. We are His ambassadors. We should strive to be more like Him. Less of us and more of Him.
