When we stay connected to God, following and remaining committed to Christ, we experience inner peace. While Jesus could have been boastful and harsh because of all His mighty exploits, He chose instead to walk in humility and to deal gently with our hearts. ⁣⁣God will renew and refresh our souls, if we’ll allow Him to transform us from the inside out and provide us with the peace that only He can provide (John 14:27). Commit today to recognize that it is God’s desire that we don’t exhaust our strength trying to make provision for the temporal things in this world. Instead, it’s His desire to turn our hearts and affections towards Heaven and the things that are really at the core of our Father’s heart (love, joy, peace, a desire for all men to be saved). The treasures that we have in store are invaluable and in no way comparable to any earthly one. Rejoice and find peace in that today.⁣⁣

Continue to grow, learn and study the things of God, so that you develop spiritually everyday. Pray in tongues regularly so that the Holy Spirit - your Teacher - can instruct you and give wisdom and guidance where needed. What a merciful Father we serve! He wasn’t just interested in “saving” us, but after He did, He cared enough for us to perfect those things that concern us and use us for His will (Psalm 138:8)!⁣ He will guide your footsteps and provide insight where you need it.⁣

Do the words mercy, kindness, and truth come to mind when people think of you? How about committing anew in 2021? Ask for God's help in more accurately demonstrating the heart of God to others. Not only will it make God proud, but it will bring us favor both in His sight and in the sight of others. He’s there to help us, and as the fruits of the Spirit mature and develop in us, we will be more equipped as His ambassadors. He loves you, and you are the apple of His eye (Psalm 17:8).⁣

David’s reflections in the twenty third psalm expressed his conviction that the Lord desired to lead His children even in their personal lives. Shepherds LEAD their flock every step of the way. The Good Shepherd LEADS us beside peaceful streams (He doesn’t want us anxious or to fret about anything; He wants us to rest IN Him. Philippians 4:6). 

If you will allow Him, He will GUIDE you and direct your steps to walk in the will and purpose that He desires for your life (Psalm 37:23). Even when we may find ourselves going through tough times or in the presence of company that may have ill will toward us, our Good Shepherd gives us perfect peace and never leaves our side (John 14:27)!
