DAILY DEVOTIONAL | July 2nd

Nebuchadnezzar was admiring his kingdom. He was admiring his palace and was patting himself on the back for all his accomplishments. Unfortunately, he did not understand that it was not his genius that allowed him to enjoy the magnificence of his kingdom. His genius did not build the kingdom. God was behind his greatness. Unfortunately for Nebuchadnezzar, his pride brought him down. Later, he lost his kingdom and was reduced to living like an animal for several years, until his reasoning came back, and God reestablished his kingdom. Nebuchadnezzar concluded that God is the one that established his kingdom, and it was God who reestablished it. God is the One who brings promotion and exaltation, pride is what causes the fall.

God was responsible for David’s rise from being a shepherd to becoming king of Israel. God was responsible for cutting off his enemies and for making David’s name great. God knows how to take us from glory to glory. Job 8:7 tells us that “though thy beginning was small, yet your latter end should greatly increase.” We should expect our lives to get better over time. Things always get better with God. God wants His people to shine. He wants to draw people to Him by demonstrating His goodness through us.  Don’t get frustrated by where you are right now. The things that are seen are temporary. God will get you to where He planned for you to be all along if you will just stick with Him.

Isn’t that just like many of us? We can see God come through over and over again, and yet when we are facing a giant that we haven't seen before, we question God and His ability. It is hard to understand how people can watch miracles take place on multiple occasions. They watch blind eyes opened, deaf ears unstopped; the dead raised, the leper cleansed; and yet they still would not believe on Jesus. Many still questioned if He truly was the Messiah. This verse of Scripture was written for our admonition.

We cannot look down on this group of people when we have done the same thing. We have seen God pay bills, heal our bodies, and make a way where there was seemingly no way, and yet we still struggle at believing God for what appears to be impossible. We have a book (the Bible), that recounts many of the miracles that God has done over a span of thousands of years, and yet we still wonder if He can turn our situation around. We must constantly renew our minds to the fact that God can do anything. Regardless of how big an obstacle may appear; it can be removed. There is no shadow of turning with God. He remains the same. Don’t let the circumstances taint how you see God, He always comes through when we keep our eyes and our trust in Him.

Do you want a life that is flourishing? A successful life is a life that is shaped by God. A prosperous life is a life built on the Word of God. Proverbs 24:3 AMPC tells us that “through skillful and godly Wisdom is a house (a life, a home, a family) built, and by understanding it is established [on a sound and good foundation]”. Success is in God and in following His commands. Jesus tells us not to worry about what we are to eat and what we are to drink. He tells us that we are to seek first His kingdom and His way of doing things and things will be added to us (Matthew 6). God takes pleasure in our prosperity, and it is His good pleasure to give us the kingdom. Friendship with God is always more profitable than friendship with the world. God loves us and wants to manifest Himself to us. When we dedicate our lives to seeking Him and not seeking things, He is able to do just that. Good things always happen when God manifests Himself to us.

People all over the world are in captivity. Not a physical captivity, but many are in captivity to the wiles of our spiritual enemy, Satan. Many, even believers, are in captivity to poverty, sickness, mental torment, oppression, and other devices of the enemy. People stay in (spiritual) captivity because of their ignorance of God’s Word.
Many don’t know what belongs to them spiritually. They don’t know that prosperity, healing, peace of mind, and many other things belong to the believer.

The Bible tells us that Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law (Galatians 3:13).  Since Christ has redeemed us from them, we don’t have to put up with them in our lives. Ignorance is not bliss. Ignorance causes captivity. People are destroyed because of a lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6). Let’s not let that be said about us. We “study to show ourselves approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15). As we study the Word of God and act on what we read, the power of God is activated in our lives because God is watching over His Word to perform it. Know what belongs to you. You don’t have to allow the enemy to just come in and wipe you out when you do.

God gave us His promises to cause us to live above the beggarly elements of this world. His faithful promises are our armor. Armor protects. When a knight wore armor, it was to protect his body from bodily harm from any and all types of weaponry that his enemy may throw at him. It didn’t matter what the weapons were: a sword, a knife, a battle axe. The armor was there to protect the knight from any weapon and any attack. God’s Word is intended to protect us from whatever the enemy tries to throw our way. His Word was given to us so that we can overcome in every area of our lives, regardless of what is going on in the world. There is a promise in the Word for anything the enemy may try to use to bring destruction into our lives. When we put the “armor” of God’s Word on, we will come out victorious every time. Study God’s Word and find out what His will is for your life. Don’t open the door for the enemy because of a lack of knowledge.

Prayer is very important in the life of the believer. As New Testament believers, we can come boldly before the throne of grace. Because of our being in right standing with God, we can stand before Him as if we have never sinned one day in our lives. We know that we will not be rejected, and we know that if He hears our prayer, we have the petitions of what we asked. We should take advantage of every opportunity that we have to talk to the God who created the universe. We have the privilege of fellowshipping with the One Who has all knowledge. Prayer isn’t about making requests; it's about communing with the most Powerful Being in the universe. And just a reminder, that being is your Father, a good Father who longs to have relationship with us so much that He sent His Son to die for us to make that happen. What a great God we serve!

There are all kinds of voices in the world today. There are different types of doctrines and teachings all over the place. Paul is admonishing Timothy to hold on to the sound teachings that he has learned from him. Paul is telling him not only to hold on to the teachings, but to guard it. It sounds a lot like Proverbs 4, where it tells us to “guard our hearts with all diligence”. Jesus, in His parable of the sower, talks about when the Word goes forth, immediately Satan comes to steal the Word. Satan will attempt to discredit the Word of God and even cause us to doubt His promises, but we cannot allow the enemy to do this in our lives. We must honor the Word and give it first place in our lives. We must guard it and keep it. That is when the Word bears fruit in our lives. Hold fast to the Word, and watch it change your life.

God has a great life in store for all His people. For us to enjoy the life that God has for us, we must come to the realization that we are not smart enough to run our own lives. We cannot have a “do-it-yourself" mentality. We are not self-made people; we are God made. He is our sufficiency, and He is our ability. When we make Jesus the Lord of our lives, we let go of the old way of doing things, and we embrace the God life, one that is Spirit lead. Those who are truly led by the Spirit of God are the sons (or children) of God. We must embrace this Spirit life because there are places to go and things to do. Let's not sell ourselves short, lets pursue all that God has for us, we won’t be sorry we did, when we do.

Did you notice what enabled these men to encounter danger with firmness and personal bravery? These men possessed strength of mind and spirit. Those are keys to facing any battle; having a strong mind and a strong spirit. Both your spirit and your mind can become stronger by feeding on the Word of God. What bread is to the physical body, the Word of God is to our spirit man. The spirit man will become stronger as it feeds on the Word of God. The Word is to the spirit man what natural food is to the physical body. Your mind will become stronger as well. The Word of God is to be the anchor to your soul (Hebrews 6:19). When one becomes established in the integrity of God’s Word, that should settle the soul, which is made up of your mind, will, and emotions. Your mind will be at peace as you are believing God because you know that God cannot lie. Regardless of the strength of your mind and spirit right now, as you spend time in the Word, you can know that you will be stronger and that the enemy won’t have a chance, no matter what He throws your way.

God is to be our source for everything, including healing. The man, who Jesus was speaking to, had an incurable condition. He was an invalid, who went to the Pool of Bethesda, waiting for an angel to stir up the water so that he could become whole of his condition. The man told Jesus that when He tried to enter the water someone went in before him. How many of us make excuses when it comes to our health? Jesus has paid the price for our healing, and yet we are not where we should be in that area because we are not really earnest about getting well. When you are serious about changing your health, you make changes. You may change your diet. You may begin making confessions. You might start studying healing Scriptures. When you are in earnest about getting well, everyone can tell. Let's get serious about walking in divine health; it has been paid for, and it belongs to us.

Jesus had already made known to the disciples that one of them would betray Him. Even though Jesus knew who would betray Him, He still treated that disciple like a friend. Jesus never spoke a word of disgust or demonstrated a feeling of betrayal. He still called Judas a friend. Jesus knew that He was about to be beaten and eventually crucified on the cross because of this betrayal, and yet He never spoke a cross word to Judas. Jesus was perfected in love. He never chastised the disciples for leaving Him. He never spoke a harsh word to Peter for denying Him. He just simply loved them. What a lesson to learn from the Master! To love those who betray us. To love those who abandon us. We must strive to love like Jesus. We must continue to love our neighbor as we love ourselves, regardless of what they say or what they may do.

As believers we have twenty-four-hour protection. We have a God that neither slumbers, nor sleeps. We can trust that God will watch over us while we are sleeping. As believers, we should always enjoy restful and peaceful nights because we have a God that we can cast all our cares on. God will handle our problems when we give them to us. He will work on them while we sleep. We can sleep peacefully because God gives His beloved sleep (Psalm 127:2). We should experience a goodnight’s rest every night because there is nothing to fear, the Lord will perfect that which concerneth us (Psalm 138:8).

There comes a time in our relationship with our Heavenly Father that we have to make a decision once and for all to put ALL - not 50%, not 97.5%…but 100% - of our confidence in God. No backups. No Plan B. 😌⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Through the power of the blood of Jesus, we have gained access to come BOLDLY (confidently) to our Heavenly Father. He hears our cries and concerns. He knows your desire for wisdom and discernment, and He will answer you. Don’t allow doubt to find its home in your heart. Stay connected to your Heavenly Father throughout the day by keeping your faith active and your spirit man built up. He WANTS to be your Father, and He’s Father to the fatherless (Psalm 68:5). He will not fail you!. You CAN trust Him.

Notice that God delivered the poor and the righteous out of their troubles. God desires to help all His children, regardless of what state they are in. It doesn’t matter how far down you are, God can and will pick you up. I Samuel 2:8 tells us that “He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the beggar from the ash heap, to set them among princes and make them inherit the throne of glory”. God can take you from your lowest point and set you among princes (royalty). God knows how to deliver, and He will, when we put our total trust and reliance on Him.

Praise is such a powerful weapon. Things happen in the spirit realm when we praise God. Notice in the text that the earth yielded her increase after the people praised God. Praise caused the increase. The Bible tells us that the Lord inhabits the praises of His people. Praise brings God on the scene. Praise is the highest form of faith because what you are thanking Him for may not have taken place yet. It is acknowledging who God is and reminding ourselves of His greatness and His ability. God is worthy of our praise. We praise Him because of that, but let’s utilize this weapon. God always shows up when we praise Him. Praise stills the enemy and brings God on the scene. When God shows up, we know that victory is imminent.

Our walk with God is very important. One reason why it is important is because people are watching you. Paul even told Timothy to be an example to the believer (I Timothy 4:12). When our actions reflect our belief system, it influences others. It can strengthen someone else’s resolve. It can inspire someone else. It can cause someone to see that there is someone who is capable of living the life of a Christian. It doesn’t mean you are perfect. It doesn’t mean that you won’t make a mistake, but at the very least, you are striving to be more like Christ. When we are hypocritical in our actions, acting like one person in church, and someone else outside of church, it can be detrimental to someone else’s walk with God. It could cause someone to backslide because they thought you were a Christian. The goal of this devotional is not to bring condemnation, but sobriety. We are God’s ambassadors, and we must strive to represent Him accurately here on the earth. He is counting on us to be not only an example, but to be a light in this dark world.

Lazarus had just died. He had been dead for four days. When Jesus told the people to roll away the stone, He knew what He was going to do. He knew that He was going to raise Lazarus up. In the natural, it looked impossible. Lazarus’ body was decomposing, this man was dead. But it doesn’t matter how dead the situation looks, if we will believe and rely on God, we will see the glory of God. We must believe in order to receive. Receiving always comes after believing. Faith is believing before seeing. It is seeing the end result in your spirit before you see it in the natural. God is a faith God, and we receive from Him by faith. If you believe, you will see. You will see His goodness, and you will see His glory.

DAILY DEVOTIONAL | June 13th

One of the most sobering parts of this Scripture is that we will be held responsible for the misuse of our time, opportunities, and abilities. One day we will have to answer for all the time we have wasted. The time that we waste scrolling on social media, watching television, or playing games on our phones, we will have to give an account to God for that. God wants us to maximize our talents and abilities. He wants us to maximize our potential so that we can have a bigger impact on this world for the kingdom of God. Every now and then, we must examine ourselves. We must examine our motives, our goals, and our purposes. Are we in God’s perfect will or His permissive will? Are we doing what He wants or what we want? We must be like Jesus. His desire was not to do His own will. His desire was to do the will of the One who sent Him. True fulfillment is walking in His will, not ours.
