DAILY DEVOTIONAL | October 28th

“Be not forward (self-assertive and boastfully ambitious) in the presence of the king, and stand not in the place of great men; For better it is that it should be said to you, Come up here, than that you should be put lower in the presence of the prince, whose eyes have seen you.” -Proverbs 25:6-7 AMPC

Humility is a characteristic we must all possess in order for us to be promoted. God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble. The Bible tells us to humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God and that He will exalt us in time. The problem with many believers is that they want to promote themselves. They are always networking and trying to get themselves in front of the right people. Our confidence can never be in man. Our confidence must always remain in God. We are thankful for the talents and abilities that He has blessed us with, but we must understand that we are who we are by His grace, and we cannot allow ourselves to be full of pride. It is better for us to take the lower place and to be called up, than to take the higher position and then be humiliated when asked to go and take the lower position. God knows how to elevate us; we must allow Him to do it and not ourselves.

DAILY DEVOTIONAL | October 27th

God doesn’t want us to stay at the same level. He expects us to grow and to go from glory to glory. Growth doesn’t happen overnight; it’s intentional. Growth should take place in every area of our lives. The Corinthian church was still operating at the baby hood stage. They were still dealing with envy, jealousy, strife and division. They were acting like unregenerate men and women.  God expects us to walk in love. He expects us to live peaceably with all men, especially those who are of the household of faith. As we grow and develop spiritually, we should not be carnal in our reactions to people. We should no longer be dominated by our flesh; we should instead be controlled by the Spirit. The fruit of the spirit should rule and dominate in our lives and not our carnal nature. We should be developing until we look and sound like Christ.

DAILY DEVOTIONAL | October 26th

We have a God that knows the future. He knows what is up the road, and He will show us not only what is coming, but also how to handle it. After David had discovered that his family, his goods, the families of his men and their substance, he went to God to find out what to do. After inquiring of the Lord, God gave Him instructions, and David pursued and recovered all. As believers we have a right to seek the Lord and receive His wisdom. James even told us that if we need wisdom, we should ask God. God will give us strategy, and He will give us wisdom. He tells us to call unto Him and He will show us mighty things, things that are fenced in and hidden to our understanding (Jeremiah 33:3 AMP). Hearing God comes out of relationship with Him, and that is something that we can develop on a daily basis. Every good Father talks to His children, and God is definitely a good father. He is always looking to take our lives from glory to glory.

DAILY DEVOTIONAL | October 25th

Have you ever had this feeling? Have you ever felt like the whole world was against you? If we don’t stay on top of ourselves, we can allow ourselves to get to a point where we feel like everyone is against us, our family, our boss, the government, even the dog. The Bible tells us that God is for us, and if He is for us, who can be against us. We must remind ourselves that we are children of God, and He will intervene in our affairs when we ask Him to in faith. God can turn every negative situation around. There is nothing too hard or too difficult for Him. We must stay in the Word of God, and we must stay in the presence of God through prayer, praise and worship. As we do those things, our perspective will change. Instead of seeing ourselves as losing, we will see ourselves properly. We will see ourselves as being more than conquerors.

DAILY DEVOTIONAL | October 24th

We face limitations when we place our dependency on the wisdom and intellect of man. It is still God’s desire for us to put ALL of our faith in Him. After all, the fear and reverence of God is the beginning of knowledge (Proverbs 1:7), right? We cannot access true wisdom - Godly wisdom - without God. God is all powerful. There’s nothing too hard for Him, and no one who can stand against Him (Romans 8:31). So, instead, trust God for His wisdom, wait for His guidance and place your confidence in Him. He is able to provide you with the help you with the right strategy, the right words to say, and the creative idea, if need be. Divine wisdom and creativity all stems from Him, so just trust Him.

We should have an accurate knowledge of the Word of God. We have to study to show ourselves approved unto God (2 Timothy 2:15). We should be like those who heard Paul and Siias preach in Berea. They were considered nobler than the church of Thessalonica, because they had a ready mind and searched the Scriptures daily to see if what was being taught was accurate. When you have a working knowledge of the Word, it is hard to be deceived by false teachers or those who may misinterpret Scripture. When Satan attacked Jesus, He tried to present the Word inaccurately, but Jesus countered that with Scripture. Jesus overcame the devil through His knowledge of the Word of God. If we want to experience the same type of victory, we must do the same.

David was a man after God’s own heart. He also was a great king. To be a great king, he had to have help. Here the Bible talks about the men who played significant roles in his cabinet. What role are you playing onyour job? What role are you playing in your church? Are you holding up your pastor’s arms? Are you involved in the ministry of helps? Are you walking in a spirit of excellence? There should be a desire to see our respective organizations flourish, both our jobs and our churches. When our company is remembered or even our church, our names should be archived the way these men were. These men served their king, and they were remembered for their service. We should desire to do the same.

Sometimes when we are walking out the will of God, we have to deal with fear. God was telling Jeremiah to say what He was commanding him to say and not to be moved by the people’s faces. God even told Jeremiah that even if they fight against Him, they couldn’t win because God was with Him. God is consistent. All throughout the Word of God, He tells His people not to be afraid of a man because He was with them. There is no one stronger than God. No one has ever defeated God, and no one ever will. God will make you a fortified city. God will give you divine strength. God will cause you to overcome every wile and strategy of the wicked one. We win every time.

What do you do when you are going through a hard time? You praise God. You don’t just praise Him at church, you praise Him in your car. You praise Him in your house. You praise Him in the morning, and you praise Him in the evening. We should praise Him on a continual basis. God inhabits the praises of His people. Do you want to bring God on the scene? Praise Him. When He shows up, things don't stay the same. He not only shows up, He shows out. He did it for Paul and Silas, and He will do it for you. It doesn't matter how bleak it may appear, God can turn it around. If He can do it in a dungeon, He can do it for you. Regardless of where you find yourself, praise will bring you out.

Jonah was in a bad place. He'd disobeyed God, and his disobedience caused him to be swallowed by a big fish. Even though he was underwater in the belly of a fish, God still heard him when he prayed to Him. God not only heard him, but He was merciful to Jonah. He spoke to the fish, and the fish spit Jonah up onto the shore. God delivered Jonah even though it was Jonah’s fault that he was swallowed up. God is always looking to deliver us. His eyes run throughout the earth, looking to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is perfect towards him (II Chronicles 16:9). If God can hear a man in the middle of the sea, in the belly of a fish, surely, He hears us. If we know that He hears us, then we know that we have what we have prayed for when we pray according to His will (I John 5:14-15).

When things get tough in our lives, we should go to God. When it feels that we are dealing with all types of obstacles and attacks, from every side and in every area, we are to run to God. God will give us wisdom. He will give us insight that we might not have thought about. He will give us the plan to get us out of the situation. What we can count on is that God will not forsake us when we put our trust in Him and stand on His Word. God is obligated to His Word, and He is watching over His Word to perform it. It is impossible for God to lie, so we know that if He promised to deliver us, we can count on Him to come through. Not just every now and then, but every time.

🤔 When’s the last time you took the time to give God thanks for His love and kindness to you? In psalm, it’s easy to see that the psalmist wrote (and perhaps sang) from the position of a grateful heart. In fact, He prioritized taking the time to brag on God, His many admirable characteristics and His own personal experiences. He had a true understanding of just how faithful and steadfast God’s love is. Even when we haven’t deserved it, our Heavenly Father has been faithful and loving to us as well. When we’ve been weak, He’s strengthened us. When we’ve been in dark and dangerous situations, He’s been our Light (v. 27), illuminating our path “with grace, freedom, and joy”. When we’ve needed rescuing, He’s been our Salvation and our Deliverer (v. 21). When we truly come to a realization of how much mercy He’s given us, it should make us that much more willing to sing praises to God and to testify to others. It makes it much more difficult to forgive and truly walk in love with others because we recognize that all that is good about us is because of God. Sing His praises today! Recount the many times He’s brought you out and made a way out of no way and be encouraged: He IS faithful.

There is an old saying that you “reap what you sow”. Just like we must be satisfied with the fruit of our words, we must be satisfied with the fruit of our ways. There are positive consequences when our ways please the Lord. One Scripture tells us that when our ways please Lord, He will make our enemies to be at peace with us. Our ways or our behavior is simply a reflection of the condition of the heart. The Word tells us that out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. Well, out of the abundance of the heart, we act. When love is in your heart, in abundance, you will act and react in love. Your actions are seeds just like your words are seeds. What you sow, you will eventually reap. We must endeavor to follow the golden rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Hezekiah was admonishing the people of Israel. Sennacherib was threatening to attack the nation of Israel, and he had been experiencing victory after victory. Hezekiah was not afraid. He knew that God would fight for them. He told the people not to be afraid because of who was for them. He knew that God would fight for them. The people rested on those promises.  
 
When we hear from God or when we are standing on a promise that is found in the Word of God, we must rest on what God has said. Faith without rest is unbelief. Fatih and fear cannot stay in the same house. When you're in fear, you can sometimes get into worry. When you're in faith, you rest. You know that God is going to take care of it, so there is no use in worrying about it. Rest and praise are indicators that you are in faith and that you are taking God at His Word. They are statements to the devil and to your circumstances that a change is on the horizon.

God is a God of restoration. He knows how to turn our lives around, regardless of how bad of shape that it may currently be in. God turned the captivity of Job and gave him twice as much. In the text, God was saying that He would rebuild Israel’s cities. He would also make the desolate land look like the Garden of Eden. Your life may be in shambles, but God can turn it around. God can turn your wilderness into the Garden of Eden. God can restore your health, your finances, your family, whatever might need to be restored, God can do it! Let’s not limit God in our believing. He is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all that we ask or think.

God desired to set His people free from the Midianites. Gideon was chosen by God to deliver the Israelites, but he did not have a positive self-image. He began to give God reasons why he couldn’t carry out what God had called him to do. Gideon must not have known that God is omniscient. He didn’t know that God knew he was the least in his father’s house. God knows everything about us. If He called us, then He has equipped us and knows what it takes for us to accomplish what He has called us to. We are what God says we are, and we can do what He says we can do. We must see ourselves the way He sees us. If you read the rest of the story, Gideon went on to defeat the Midianites, and Israel was free from their control. When we get to the place where we agree with God, we will experience victory as well.

Joshua is letting the people know that it doesn’t really matter who they choose to serve, he had already made up his mind that he and his household would serve the Lord. As believers, we must make that same commitment. God desires for our families to serve Him. The angel told Cornelius to ask for a man named Peter, who would explain how he and his household could be saved (Acts 11:13-15). God desired for his whole household to be saved. We must have the same attitude. Not only will we serve God, but our children, and their children. God is a generational God. He not only keeps covenant to a thousand generations, but He also desires to walk with each generation. He was called the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. God put marriage in place so that He would have godly seed. God is always concerned about having a generation that will serve Him; we should do the same. Whatever concerns God should concern us.

DAILY DEVOTIONAL | October 11th

After God finished his six days of creation, He looked at everything that He had made, and He approved it completely. One version says that He looked at “everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good (KJV)”. There was no sickness or disease in the earth when God originally created it. There was no sin, and there was no curse. Everything He made was good and He approved of it.  
 
God has not changed. The Bible even tells us that God “takes pleasure in the prosperity of His servant (Psalm 35:27).” God delights in our prosperity. He wishes above all things that we prosper and be in health, even as our soul prospers (III John 2). God has not changed. Jesus even said that He came that we might have life and have it more abundantly (John 10:10) and Jesus was the will of God in motion. If there are things in your life that aren’t “good,” God has given you the ability to change it. He has given you authority, His Word, and faith to overcome. Don’t continue to settle for anything but God’s best for your life. God’s will is for you to flourish and to thrive. It always has been, and it always will be.

When Jesus came to the earth, He emptied Himself of everything that made Him God. He experienced what it was like to be mortal. He experienced hunger and fatigue. He was betrayed, and He was tempted. He experienced the same things that we experience. His experience on earth enabled him to be a faithful high priest for us. A high priest that can sympathize and understand what we are going through right now. We are assured that we can come boldly before the throne of grace and obtain help in the time of trouble. We are not alone in this world. Jesus is our advocate and our intercessor, and He is praying for us at the right hand of the Father. We have the assurance that whenever we find ourselves in a tight spot or a tough-looking situation, we can go to God knowing that we can receive well-timed help to get us out of every negative situation we face. We are never alone. We are never without help.

Jesus was going about teaching, preaching, and healing. He was doing a great job at it, but He was only one man. He needed help, and so He ordained twelve men to assist him in teaching, preaching, healing and casting out devils. Before Jesus ascended into heaven, He gave the Great Commission and told us to cast out devils in His Name, lay hands on the sick in His Name, and to preach the Gospel to every creature. The assignment never changed, even after Jesus ascended into heaven; but we are to continue the mandate. Are you telling people about Jesus? Are you laying hands on the sick? Are you casting out devils? Jesus is the head of the Church, but we are His Body. He expects us to continue His work inthe earth. We must all do our part. Are you doing yours?
