Luke 24:1-5 NKJV
Now on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they, and certain other women with them, came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared. But they found the stone rolled away from the tomb. Then they went in and did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. And it happened, as they were greatly perplexed about this that behold, two men stood by them in shining garments. Then, as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen!
Women who were dedicated to Jesus Christ came to the tomb where His body was laid to rest to apply spices to Jesus’ body. They found the stone rolled away and the tomb empty. While they stood perplexed, 2 angels showed up and asked why they were looking for a living person in a place where dead bodies were kept. They informed the women that Jesus had risen from the dead.
As we remember that wonderful event that took place about 2000 years ago, let us be grateful that we had our own personal encounter with the risen Lord. One day we accepted what He did for us personally and identified with Him in His death, burial and resurrection. We died with Him when we rejected our old life and were born again. We were buried with Him in baptism as we put away the old man for good. We arose with Him when we came up out of the water and gave witness to the world that we are now identified with Christ forever. Now let us celebrate and stay among the living – stay where there is life – stay with the Lord who is our life! If we ever feel like we need an infusion of life for our situations, remember the words of the angels, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen!” We cannot expect to find life in dead places. We must go to where Jesus is celebrated and worshiped. We must go into our “prayer closets” and seek Him – our risen Savior and Lord. He is the way, the truth and the LIFE!
