Hebrews 2:14-16 (NKJV)

Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

A fear of death gives us a life of bondage. How awful it is to live with a fear of death. For those who do not know Jesus as Savior and Lord, they have a legitimate reason to fear death. For them it means eternal separation from God. For us who say, “Jesus is my Savior and Lord” death is a change of address to a better location. It means we are eternally with God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. We must keep our house in order and live a life where we are prepared to go at anytime although we are doing our best to stay here and finish our course. We can lay down our lives for Christ’s sake if we are tested. If for some reason we leave in another way, there is nothing for us to be afraid of. Someone else will worry about the bills and the work that we did not get to take care of. We will be reunited with loved ones gone before us and oh what joy awaits us on the other side! Jesus took on flesh and blood and went through the doorway of death for us. While He was doing that He destroyed the one who had the power of death and set us free from the fear of death. Let us accept our freedom, live our lives to the fullest and accept our freedom from the fear of death. O, death where is your sting? O, grave where is your victory? We have overcome by the blood of Jesus Christ and the word of our testimony!
