Acts 8:4-8 NJKV
Therefore those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the word. Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preached Christ to them. And the multitudes with one accord heeded the things spoken by Philip, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. For unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, came out of many who were possessed; and many who were paralyzed and lame were healed. And there was great joy in that city.
This passage tells of a crusade conducted by Philip the deacon who later became an evangelist. As he preached to the audience in Samaria, many, not few, were delivered from demonic oppression or possession. It may surprise some to discover how many people are suffering due to the torment of evil spirits. Sometimes the torment manifests in mental illness and other times in physical problems. The good news is they can all be set free. We must seek to be free ourselves from all oppression of the devil and help with the deliverance of others. When the oppressed people of Samaria were set free by the power of Christ, there was great joy in the city. When freedom from oppression comes anywhere, the result is the same. There is great joy.
