2 Samuel 9:7 NKJV
So David said to him, “Do not fear, for I will surely show you kindness for Jonathan your father’s sake, and will restore to you all the land of Saul your grandfather; and you shall eat bread at my table continually.”
David was speaking to Mephibosheth, Jonathan’s son in this passage and telling him that the land belonging to his grandfather would be restored to him. This was a result of the covenant relationship that David had with Jonathan. He actually went searching for a member of Jonathan’s household to bless because of their friendship. God has a covenant relationship with us because we have accepted Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. He is looking for us, so to speak to bless us and restore to us what has been unlawfully taken from us. Just as Mephibosheth had to appear before David to receive his benefits, so we must appear before God to receive our benefits. As we come to His throne daily, let us thank Him for the benefits He bestows on us which include restoration of what is ours.
