2 Samuel 6:21-22 NKJV

So David said to Michal, “It was before the Lord, who chose me instead of your father and all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the Lord, over Israel. Therefore I will play music before the Lord. And I will be even more undignified than this, and will be humble in my own sight. But as for the maidservants of whom you have spoken, by them I will be held in honor.”

King David was rebuked by his wife for putting aside his royal robe and dancing shamelessly in the street as he celebrated the return of the ark of God to the city of David. David danced with all his might, leaping and whirling in the process. He responded by saying it was the Lord who chose him to be king and he was prepared to be even more undignified in his praise. Although we must be dignified and honor our position as kings, there comes a time when we should put that all aside and praise God without concern for how we look. It takes humility and understanding the honor God bestowed on us by making us kings. As David was excited that the ark of God had come to his city, we must be excited about the great things God has done for us and praise Him without reservation. He deserves it.
