Isaiah 53:5 NKJV
But He was wounded for our transgressions. He was bruised for our iniquities. The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.
Speaking prophetically about Jesus, Isaiah said that He received the chastisement necessary to obtain peace for us. When we ponder what took place at Calvary, and the events leading up to it that day, we should not take what was done for us lightly. If a part of what Jesus suffered for was the securing of our peace, we should do what we can to ensure that we walk in what He paid for us to have. Imagine someone sweating and overworking, suffering to be able to leave an inheritance for us; then after they die we allow someone else to take it from us illegally. I think if we loved and appreciated the person who left us the inheritance, we would retain a lawyer and fight for what is ours. Let's take that attitude about the wonderful peace Jesus not only left us, but suffered and died for us to be able to enjoy.
