Deuteronomy 8:15 NKJV
who led you through that great and terrible wilderness, in which were fiery serpents and scorpions and thirsty land where there was no water; who brought water for you out of the flinty rock;
As Moses recounted the stories of God’s goodness to Israel, he pointed out that God brought them water out of the flinty rock. Flint is a hard stone which would make it very hard for anything to pass through it. This made it very obvious that a miracle was taking place. Not only did water come out of a rock, but it came out a rock that was not porous. It was a solid rock.
Spiritual parallel: God can feed us spiritually in the midst of seemingly impossible situations. If we look to Him as our Source, even if the preacher or teacher we are listening to does not seem to be saying much, God can speak to us through him or her. So, when we go to church or some meeting, let us expect to hear from God, not man. I have had God speak to me through a movie that had nothing to do with the Bible or the things of God. I have had the Lord teach me from a scripture I thought was just a technical inclusion and was not meant to teach anything. God spoke through a donkey. We cannot limit God to our traditional ways or religious experiences. I have seen the Spirit of God show up in a situation that was totally surprising to me. I could not credit His showing up to anything I or anyone around me did. May God help us to take the limits off of Him, get Him out of our boxes and let Him be His supernatural self while we just enjoy Him every day.
