Yesterday morning (Friday), I went downstairs to use the inverter. I usually pick a scripture to listen to while on the inverter. This time I was indecisive so I asked our Father what I should listen to. I heard the word “January.” I thought for a moment as I pondered what it meant since the word is not in the scripture. Then I understood.

January is the first month of the year in the non-Jewish world. The first month of the year for the Jews is the month Nisan. It was established in the book of Exodus as the beginning of the Hebrew calendar, celebrating a new beginning for Israel as they left the bondage of Egypt and became free to follow Yahweh to a land of abundance. “This month shall be your beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you.” (Exodus 12:2 NKJV) So, I listened to the story of the Exodus beginning with Exodus 12 where the New Year was announced. I pondered why my attention was drawn to this story. I thought that the Lord may be announcing a new beginning for us. He is going to do something new and it will be good and bring freedom. Later Friday evening, I was listening to a prophet who said the Lord told him He was going to do something new. (smile) Israel went through great difficulty before the new year began. We are going through difficulty now but there is victory and freedom at the end of this story for us as well. Stay focused on the Lord and be encouraged.
