Arkansas State Government pass SAFE ACT

The Governor and state Congress of Arkansas received national attention this week. That state’s Congress passed a bill banning access to gender transition medications, surgery, and treatment for children. The bill focused on these types of treatments for children and youth under the age of 18. Lawmakers in support of the bill say the main purpose was to protect youth from such a life altering decision prior to adulthood. The bill now law was named the Arkansas Save Adolescents from Experimentation or (SAFE) Act. Transgender, and LGBT supporters say the bill is a sweeping “genocidal attack” on a specific group. Governor Asa Hutchinson seemed to agree with LGBT activists announcing he had vetoed the bill. Hutchinson called the bill an overreach of government. The governor continued his statement calling the bill simply the result of a cultural war in America. The Arkansas state Congress quickly countered the veto by overriding the governor making the Safe Act law. State Representative Robin Lundstrum, who introduced the bill says children are precious and if they choose to go this route once they are adults it is there choice, but these types of life altering treatments should be made in adulthood and not by children. Several other states in the US are considering laws to ban underage transgender procedures for children under the age of 18.

Church Building in Canada fenced in by police
A City Council in Canada continues its attack against a local church. Grace Life Church was barricaded by police to prevent parishioners from attending service. The police department in Edmonton, Alberta Canada erected barricades around the church building and blocked the church’s entrance. The blockade follows the arrest of the church’s Pastor James Coates who was recently released from jail. The pastor was arrested for holding in person church services; the city council claims the church and its pastor violated social distancing and covid-19 restrictions. The pastor is still facing at least one charge in the case. Erin Coates wife of Pastor Coates posted pictures on social media following the blockage and released a statement: “This is what happens when you have freedom of religion in a free and democratic society: they jail your pastor for freely opening the doors of the church and serving Christ’s sheep and hurting people. Now they’ve chained the doors of Grace Life Church enclosing in chain link fence. This is all under the guise of a health order. Too bad the Church isn’t a building, it’s a blood bought people - Christ has and will prevail.” Another pastor in the same area was ordered to close his church for service on Resurrection Sunday. Pastor Artur Pawlowski of the Cave of Adullam Church made headlines and went viral after he recorded his confrontation with police and a health department official. The pastor called the official and officers “Nazis, Communists, and psychopaths” before kicking them out of the church telling them not to return without a warrant.

Justice speaks out concerning censorship on social media
US Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas is speaking out in a rare rebuke. The justice who like other Supreme Court Justices is known to keep his opinions out of the public as much as possible. The justice spoke on what he called a glaring concern about the growing censorship from social media companies. Thomas commented following the dismissal of a case involving former President Trump. The case was dismissed due to the end of the president’s previous ban on social media. The justice issued comments after the case, calling censorship on social media, “historic and unprecedented.” Thomas continued adding that this type of censorship by big tech companies should be concerning because it controls the flow of how people receive information. Supporters of Justice Thomas’ comments praised the remarks saying more people in the legal field should share their concerns publicly. Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and Amazon have been criticized for censoring online comments from users and in Amazon’s case removing authors’ works, mainly conservative authors, that are deemed offensive by critics.
