SNBC NEWS WATCH: Lawsuit dismissed against one state law (TX) / State law passed (OK)
Two more states are making headlines concerning abortion bills. An appeal against the Texas state law known as SB8 or the Heartbeat bill has been dismissed by Federal courts. The Fifth Circuit of Appeals has declined to hear the appeal from opponents of the bill. The now law prohibits abortion after the first heartbeat is detected. The law is not enforced by the state but allows private citizens to report an abortion provider who performs the procedure after the heartbeat is detected (around six or seven weeks). Supporters of the law call it a win in Texas for the unborn. The Oklahoma state congress has passed an abortion ban bill that would make it the most restrictive in the nation. The state congress passed the bill just this week; it is expected to be signed by Oklahoma’s governor. The new law would prohibit all abortions after six weeks except for cases of rape or incest. Pro-abortion groups including Planned Parenthood have already filed lawsuits against this law. According to one doctor at an abortion clinic most of their recent out of state cases have come from Texas. The nation’s attention has been focused on abortion lately following the recent unprecedented leak from the US Supreme Court. Critics believe the leak is an attempt to intimidate the justices on the court from ruling against Roe vs. Wade. There is also belief that the leak is to draw attention away from major issues in the US blamed on the Biden Administration. Added to the controversy a new documentary has debuted this week. The producer of the film 2000 mules Dinesh D’Souza says the film will reveal confirmed evidence of election fraud. The film is currently in theaters and being streamed online.

Christian schools see increase in registration from parents across the US
“A once in 100-year moment”. These are the words used by E. Ray Moore, founder of the conservative Christian Education Initiative to describe the recent influx of parents enrolling their children in Christian schools. According to a report from the Association of Christian Schools international, Christian schools have seen double digit growth in the past year. According to the association as many as 10-thousand students have been added to their network. The number of home-schooled students has also doubled, along with the number of new Christian schools being opened around the US. According to the New York Times the mass exodus from public schools is due to controversial topics and liberal agendas being introduced into the public-school system. Critical Race Theory, LGBT curriculums, and a desire for a faith-based environment are just some of the reason’s parents are moving their children out of public schools. The trend according to experts is expected to continue. VCCS is reporting a 40-50 percent increase of parents interested in enrollment compared to previous years.
