Neiman Marcus changes Christmas Catalog title to “Holiday Book”
A long time Christmas catalog and the company that produces it is receiving backlash for a controversial move. According to reports Neiman Marcus has made changes to its long-time annual Christmas catalog. The company has changed the gift catalog leaving the word Christmas out of its annual publication.
The company’s press release says that the catalog will now be referred to as a “Holiday Book”.
A spokesperson for the company claims the change is to show inclusivity inviting all religions and backgrounds to celebrate the holiday season. Employees with the company say the CEO has “gone woke”. Employees interviewed with two different news publications say the company CEO and his team are the reason behind the catalog name change and that backlash could cause a financial loss meaning employees will lose their jobs. Archbishop of Church of England criticized for sexuality beliefs expressed on podcast
The top bishop of the Anglican Church is receiving criticism after his recent comments on a podcast.
The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby made controversial comments on a podcast recently concerning his views on sexuality and the Church. Welby said in his comments that all relationships should be committed ones whether gay or straight. The archbishop also added he wanted the church to be a place where both relationships were welcomed and could be blessed in civil partnerships, traditional marriages, or same-sex marriages. The Church of England only acknowledges marriages between one man and one woman according to Biblical principles. However, the church has been embroiled in ongoing controversy since the mid 2000s with leaders and more liberal supporters pushing for acknowledgement of same-sex marriage and for the church to have a more liberal stance. Critics say the bishop’s comments are completely backwards. Archbishop Welby released a statement saying the comments were his own personal view and he is committed to welcoming LGBTQ people into the church with love
