A pastor in Canada has moved his family out of the country after ongoing persecution from the government. Pastor Harold Ristau and his family have moved to Kenya following persecution from his own government. Attorneys for Ristau say the intimidation and threat of jail time started following Ristau’s participation in protests. The pastor participated in a peaceful protest against COVID-19 policies in that nation. Canadian officials mandated truck drivers to receive the COVID shot in order to continue working. Thousands of Canadians responded by protesting in support of that nation’s truck drivers. Pastor Ristau along with 10-thousand others peacefully protested as part of the Freedom Convoy protests. The pastor and other removed a blockade surrounding a war memorial and cleaned the monument, along singing the Canadian national anthem and prayer in protest. Following confirmation of Ristau’s presence at the protest, the Canadian government froze the pastor’s financial assets and threatened jail time. Ristau says his family was bullied and threatened, leaving him no choice but to move the family out of the country.

Israeli Defense Forces launched a major offensive in the West Bank. The offensive stemmed from attacks on Israeli citizens that killed four men near the city of Jenine’. Seven IDF soldiers were injured last month following an attempt to arrest the suspects in the previous attack. Christian organization in UK wins case against bank
A Christian organization has won its case citing discrimination. Core Issue Trust, or CIT, sued Barclays Bank after the bank closed the organization’s account because of pressure from LGBT groups. The organization counsels and ministers to people who desire to leave the LGBT lifestyle. Pro-LGBT groups accused the group of conversion therapy and pressured the bank to end its business relationship with the group. CIT later sued, citing discrimination. A petition was also presented to the bank with over 70,000 signatures, demanding the bank reopen the organization’s accounts. A UK court agreed with the Christian group and ordered a settlement be reached between the two parties. The bank agreed to pay about $17,000 in damages. Attorneys at Christian Legal Centre represented Core Issue Trust. Attorneys for the group celebrated the decision and say the bank bowed to woke ideology.

SNBC HEALTH Report UPDATE: WHO declares aspartame possible carcinogen
The World Health Organization has announced it will declare aspartame as a potential health risk to consume. The announcement was made after a division within the WHO released a recent study of safety reviews of this sweetener by the group’s International Agency of Research on Cancer. The study concluded that there was a potential risk of cancer associated with the artificial sweetener. Aspartame is considered an alternative to sugar. It is found in products including cough drops, yogurt, soft drinks, and frozen desserts. The group did not report on what amount, if any, is safe to consume. The International Sweeteners Association commented on the announcement condemning the WHO branch. The organization called the IARC’s findings questionable and called aspartame one of the most thoroughly researched substances in the world.  An executive from the International Council of Beverages Association also criticized the announcement. Kate Loadman called the designation a contradiction of the IARC’s previous studies. Researchers have advised consuming natural sugar options such as: date sugar, coconut sugar, agave nectar, and stevia, if you are avoiding white sugar.

Roe v. Wade - one year later
The one-year anniversary of the repeal of Roe vs. Wade was recently celebrated. Pro-life and conservative groups celebrated the anniversary of the statute being overturned. The US Supreme Court ruled in June of last year that the decision for abortion restrictions should be left up to each state. Since the overturn of the ruling several state governments have restricted abortion to under 15 weeks in most states. Several liberal state governments have made their state “sanctuary locations” and have vowed to continue to fight for what they call women’s reproductive rights. Supporters for the overturn claim 200-thousand infants were saved from abortions because of the ruling. Here is Charlotte pro-life activist report 176 babies have been saved from abortion as mothers changed their minds before entering abortion clinics.

Pro-Life counselor sues to stand in front of abortion clinic to offer counseling
A pro-life counselor says she will appeal her case to the US Supreme Court. The woman, Debra Vitagliano’s attorneys are planning to appeal to the US Supreme Court concerning a previous ruling. The case Hill vs. Colorado is at the center of the appeal. The ruling bans peaceful counseling for potential patients in front of abortion clinics. The woman says due to the current laws she can be arrested for approaching a woman who is considering an abortion. Known as the Bubble Zone, the current law requires a 100-foot zone around an abortion facility. The includes the public sidewalks in front of clinics. Attorneys for Vitagliano say Americans have the right to engage peacefully with people on public sidewalks. They added that they are hopeful the Supreme Court will take the case.

 US Methodist church officially splits
The US Methodist Church has officially split.
The national organization separated from the more conservative church in the US and internationally. According to reports thousands of churches have requested to leave the organization since 2019. The governing body of the organization approved of churches leaving starting in that same year, with a clause allowing them to keep their properties. The mass exit was previously appealed in the court system. A justice in that case said he could not legally make a decision on the split and that this matter should stay within the organization. The governing body of the Methodist church finally agreed to allow the conservative churches to leave this year following a vote. So far five thousand churches that were affiliated with the group have announced they will exit. The mass exodus of conservative churches stems back to the national US Methodist church allowing same sex marriage and clergy who condoned or participated in the homosexual lifestyle. The churches leaving the organization will now form the Global Methodist church or have elected to be non-denominational.

Family claims child forced to create idol for “class exercise”
A family in Ohio says their child’s religious rights were violated by a teacher. According to Benjamin and Amie Mutti their son was required to create a religious idol. The project according to the couple was assigned by the boy’s teacher without the school district’s knowledge. The teacher told her fifth grade class to create an idol based on the spiritual beliefs of the Native American Hopi tribe. The teacher then instructed the children to describe their idol known as a kachina doll and what special powers it possessed. The students were then led by their teacher to perform a ceremony in class with the dolls. The parents of the student called the act a clear violation of their child’s religious beliefs. The couple who are Messianic Jews are now being represented by the American Center for Law and Justice. Attorneys from the organization sent a letter to the Lexington School Board. The president of the school board says he would pass on the letter to the district superintendent and board. The board has not responded to attorneys for the family.

Doctor fired for refusing to use gender pronouns on fake patient during work exercise
A doctor in the UK who was fired for refusing to acknowledge a patient’s gender pronoun preference is now taking the battle to court. The doctor, David Mackereth was fired from his position at that UK’s National Health Service for refusing to acknowledge a question during a job scenario workshop. During the exercise the doctor was asked if he would address a man as “ma’am” if the patient made this request. Dr. Mackereth refused; the doctor later stated in a hearing that he was basically fired for a hypothetical situation that in no way reflected his actual job. A court later sided with the National Health Service. Mackereth’s case has since been overturned by another court. Justices in that case said the hypothetical exercise did not prove the doctor would be negligent towards the care of an actual patient. Dr. Mackereth is being represented by the Christian Legal Centre. Attorneys for the doctor will now appeal the case to the European Court of Human Rights.
