Day 223
Psalm 46:1
"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble."
Who is God? In describing a few of the attributes of God, the psalmist said He is our refuge, our strength, and a very present help in trouble. It is beneficial for us to meditate on these things. It will help eliminate fear in our lives and increase our levels of confidence.
A refuge is a place we can go to escape harm. Strength means we are protected and can overcome the challenges we face. A very present help in trouble indicates there is no need to worry about how we will survive an attack. We are not waiting for help. Help is already there. Help is not just present, but very present - not passively involved, but actively involved.
Let us rehearse these attributes of God and celebrate the fact that since He is our God, we will benefit from all of it. We have a refuge, strength and real help in times of trouble.
God is my refuge and strength. He is actively involved in my affairs when trouble comes to me. I am free from fear and full of confidence.
