One of the characteristics of a child of God is his/her ability to love all people at all times. It is easy to love the lovable. It is easy to love people who treat you right. God’s Word tells us that we are to love everyone, even those who do not like us and mistreat us. When we love the unlovable it demonstrates to the world that there is something different about us. The world will love you if you love them. The world’s love is based on how you love them. We are to love people regardless of how they treat us. We did not do anything to earn God’s love, yet He loves us unconditionally. We are to operate the same way. We must allow the love of God to flow through us to the world. It does not mean we tolerate sin. It does not mean that we are rugs for people to just walk over. It means that we love everyone the way that God loves us. Remember that it is the love of God that is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost (Romans 5:5).
