When God sets us free from any bondage, He expects us to stay free. God wants us free from every sin, vice, addiction, and anything else the devil would use to keep us in bondage. Jesus has given us victory over sin, and we should no longer be entangled in that which we have been set free from. When God sets us free, we must take the responsibility of staying free. We must be aware of our associations, our surroundings, and what we look at. We must guard our hearts with all diligence. We can live a life that is pleasing to God, but it takes discipline. We must be like Paul and “buffet” our bodies. We must keep our flesh under, but in order to do that, we must keep our minds on the things of the Spirit. If we walk in the Spirit, we will not fulfill the lust of the flesh (Galatians 5:16).
