Humility is a characteristic that we must all possess in order for us to be promoted. God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble. The Bible tells us to humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God and that He will exalt us in time. The problem with many believers is that they want to promote themselves. They are always networking or trying to get themselves in front of the right people. Our confidence can never be in man. Our confidence must always remain in God. We are thankful for the talents and the abilities that He has blessed us with, but we must understand that we are who we are by His grace, and we cannot allow ourselves to be full of pride. It is better for us to take the lower place and to be called up, than to take the higher position and then be humiliated when asked to go and take the lower position. God knows how to elevate us; so we must allow Him to do it and not try to intervene ourselves.
