Jesus knew the importance of fellowshipping with the Father. The text tells us that Jesus would pray as often as possible. It didn’t matter if He had to get up early or if He had to stay up late after a long day of ministry, Jesus would spend time with God. He understood the necessity and the value of prayer. There were times when Jesus prayed all night long. Before Jesus went to the cross, He was in the Garden of Gethsemane, praying to the Father, drawing the strength that it would take to carry out what He was sent to do, sacrifice His life for humanity. Jesus is our example. If He, being the Son of God, spent much time in prayer while here on earth, how much more should we? God is the vine, and we are the branches. We get our life, our strength, our everything from Him. He is our sufficiency. If Jesus was able to fulfill His purpose through seeking the Father, we should do the same.
