DAILY DEVOTIONAL | April 26th

📖 “It was because of his faith that Enoch was promoted to the eternal world without experiencing death. He disappeared from this world because God promoted him, and before that happened his reputation was that “he pleased God”. And without faith it is impossible to please him. The man who approaches God must have faith in two things, first that God exists and secondly that it is worth a man’s while to try to find God.” -Hebrews 11:5-6 JB Phillips New Testament

It should be the desire of every believer to please our Heavenly Father. God is pleased when we walk by faith and according to “His Word.” God is pleased when we believe His Word above the circumstances. He is pleased when we speak what the Word of God says instead of our circumstances. God was displeased with the Israelites in the wilderness because of their constant complaining. They would not trust in God and put their faith in His integrity. Their doubt of God's faithfulness would cause the original generation to lose their lives and the next generation to receive their “promised land”. When we walk by faith, it not only pleases God, but it also brings God on the scene. When God comes on the scene, things change, and circumstances begin to get in line with His Word. When we approach God, we must remember two things: first that God exists and secondly it is always worth our while to seek Him out. He is a rewarder of those who do.

📖 “Jesus answered him, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, that unless a person is born again (anew, from above), he cannot ever see (know, be acquainted with, and experience) the kingdom of God." -John 3:3 Amplified Bible Classic Edition

If one wants to be a bonafide child of God, that person must be born again. They simply must ask Jesus Christ to come into their heart and confess Him as Lord (Romans 10:9-10). It is quite simple. Works will not get you born-again. You can never work your way to Heaven. You can never earn your salvation; but you can simply receive what has already been done. Jesus has already paid the price for sin. That is Good News. Our works do not produce righteousness. Righteousness produces good works. If you haven’t done so already, receive Jesus Christ on today. You cannot ever see the kingdom of God until you do.

📖 "[Prompted] by faith Noah, being forewarned by God concerning events of which as yet there was no visible sign, took heed and diligently and reverently constructed and prepared an ark for the deliverance of his own family. By this [his faith which relied on God] he passed judgment and sentence on the world’s unbelief and became an heir and possessor of righteousness (that relation of being right into which God puts the person who has faith)." -Hebrews 11:7 Amplified Bible Classic Edition

The building of the ark was a significant example of faith. Noah took the time and effort to build something that he had no physical evidence of. There was no proof that there would be a flood. There was no evidence that humanity would be destroyed the way that it ultimately would be. Noah had to not only build the ark, but he had to place the animals on the ark. He had to trust God. Noah had to believe that everything that God said would happen exactly the way He said it would. We must walk in the same type of faith. We must prepare for things that we don’t see in the natural realm. We must have corresponding actions with our faith. Noah’s actions corresponded with his believing, and it saved both his family and humanity. When we believe what God tells us, it causes us to move. When we act on what we believe, we can expect manifestations to take place. God always comes through for the people who act on His Word.

📖 “Alas, Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and by Your outstretched arm! There is nothing too hard or too wonderful for You" —Jeremiah 32:17 Amplified Bible Classic Edition

Notice that Jeremiah starts off by talking about the handiwork of God. When one considers the universe and the stars and the planets, the sun and the moon, they cannot help but think about how powerful and awesome God is! When you look at the earth, nature and the animals or the complexity of the human body and the parts of the body and how they function or even the intricacy of the brain alone, it shows the genius of our God. When you consider all of this, your problems should look very trivial. You should have the same perspective of your problems that God has. Your problems are easy to God. Everything is. Nothing is too hard or too wonderful for Him. If God could create the universe, the animals, and the human body in six days, He can handle your situation. Let’s not insult God and think that our problems are insurmountable. We must keep the proper prospective when it comes to our God. Nothing is too difficult for Him.

📖 “There are those who speak rashly, like the piercing of a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing." -Proverbs 12:18 Amplified Bible Classic Edition

Your words are powerful. You have the ability to speak life and the ability to speak death. When used properly, you can use your words to bring healing to your body. Your body will respond to your words. Everything will respond to your words. Jesus cursed a fig tree. He spoke to a fever. He spoke to a leper, and the leprosy left. He spoke to a dead man, and the man came back to life. Jesus said a tree will obey you. A mountain will obey you. Everything will respond to your words. If words can bring healing, words can also bring sickness. Words can cause life, but they can also cause death. Jesus cursed the fig tree, and it withered away. We must be responsible with our words, and we must learn to use our words so that they can bring life and health to our lives. The choice is ours.

📖 “Also [Jesus] told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not to turn coward (faint, lose heart, and give up).” -Luke 18:1 Amplified Bible Classic Edition

When you are a person of prayer and the Word, it’s hard to give up. It becomes difficult to throw in the towel. When you are constantly in fellowship with the Father and resting in His promises, it becomes hard to faint and lose heart. Things become easier because you are resting in your Heavenly Father. You know that He cannot lie and that He will give you victory. Having done all to stand, continue to stand. Don’t ever give up. Don’t give up on God. Don’t give up on yourself, your dreams, or your family. God always causes us to triumph. You are more than a conqueror. You were built to outlast the devil. You win!

📖 “Elijah the Tishbite, of the temporary residents of Gilead, said to Ahab, As the Lord, the God of Israel, lives, before Whom I stand, there shall not be dew or rain these years but according to My word." -I Kings 17:1 Amplified Bible Classic Edition

This was a bold statement. A man telling the king that there won't be any rain until he says so. Only a man who truly knows who He is can make a statement like that. Only an individual who knows his authority and God can make a statement like that. They would be fully convinced that God will back them up. Of course, we don’t just want to manipulate the weather just to prove a point, but we may be in a position where we must believe for it not to rain. We might have to speak to a storm like Jesus did. Storms, hurricanes, and even tornadoes are subject to our authority as believers. Things like that don’t just happen. We must know who we are and what belongs to us. We must meditate on the Scriptures dealing with authority. Lastly, we must practice our authority. Use it on little things at first, and over time your faith will grow. We can do outstanding things for the kingdom if we pursue and apply what we know.

📖 “I have seen slaves on horses, and princes walking like slaves on the earth.” -Ecclesiastes 10:7 Amplified Bible Classic Edition

As kings, we are to take our rightful place on the earth. Many believers are living below the standards that God has established for them. God expects us to be the head and not the tail. We are to be above only and not beneath. God sees us as His ambassadors and as kings and priests. Many are walking like slaves when they should be riding on the high places of the earth. We are no longer in the kingdom of darkness. We have been delivered into the Kingdom of God’s dear Son. We are to walk like it and to talk like it. The Bible even tells us that the sinner's wealth is laid up for the just (Proverbs 13:22). We are seated with Christ in heavenly places. We have been given authority. So, let's not allow ourselves to be out of place. Let us seize what belongs to us. No matter how long it takes, we must be like Caleb and demand what has been promised to us. All things are ours! (I Corinthians 3:22).

📖 “God is not a human being, and he will not lie. He is not a human, and he does not change his mind. What he says he will do, he does [will he not do it?]. What he promises, ·he makes come true [ will he not fulfill it/make it come true?]." -Numbers 23:19 Expanded Bible

We cannot look at God the way that we look at other human beings. God is not a man, and He does not lie. God will not change His mind concerning His children. He promises to meet every need in our lives (Philippians 4:19). If He promised to do it, then we can definitely count on Him to do it. The Word of God says that we are redeemed, so that means we are. It tells us that we are healed, which means we are. Whatever the Word says that we are, that is what we are. Whatever God has said in His Word that we are is who we are. When we believe in His Word and stand on His promises, we experience the reality of those promises. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but God’s words will never pass away (Matthew 24:35). God always comes through. He can be depended upon.

📖 “The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his soul: but the belly of the wicked shall want" -Proverbs 13:25 KJV

This seems to be God's way. He wants His people to eat until they are satisfied. When the Israelites were in the wilderness, they were to get enough manna to satisfy their individual appetites. When Jesus fed the multitudes with five loaves and two fishes, they ate until they were satisfied. In Deuteronomy chapter 8, God told them that when they had eaten and were full, not to forget the Lord their God. When God placed Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, He said they could eat of all the trees except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. God desires that we prosper and succeed. He wants us to enjoy life, and eating until we are full would be part of that. We serve a great God. Hallelujah!

📖 “Hope deferred makes the heart sick; but when dreams come true at last, there is life and joy.” -Proverbs 13:12 TLB

Hope is a goal-setter. It is a positive expectation that something you desire will eventually become a reality. People can become ill when they lose hope and have nothing to look forward to. They can live in poverty so long that they lose hope that they will ever experience abundance. They can even remain sick for so long that they lose hope that their health will improve. As we stay with God, we can trust that our lives will get better. We can hope in God because He has a plan for our lives: a plan that is good and not evil. It’s a plan to give us a hope and a future. Keep your hope in God. He will never let you down. The path of the just is a shining light that grows brighter and brighter unto a perfect day (Proverbs 4:18).

📖 “But you [Jeremiah], gird up your loins! Arise and tell them all that I command you. Do not be dismayed and break down at the sight of their faces, lest I confound you before them and permit you to be overcome. For I, behold, I have made you this day a fortified city and an iron pillar and bronze walls against the whole land-against the [successive] kings of Judah, against its princes, against its priests, and against the people of the land [giving you divine strength which no hostile power can overcome]. And they shall fight against you, but they shall not [finally] prevail against you, for I am with you, says the Lord, to deliver you." -Jeremiah 1:17-19 AMPC

When God is leading us, we can rest assured that He will defend us and protect us. We can go boldly, knowing that He is going before us and making the crooked places straight. It doesn't matter who tries to fight against us; no weapon that is formed against us can prosper. We are to be bold as lions. We must move forward knowing that if God is for us, no one can successfully stand against us as our enemy. God was telling Jeremiah that He was with Him. That was enough for Jeremiah to be willing to go anywhere for God. God is with us. We must adopt that same mentality. We must be willing to go wherever and whenever for God. We must go knowing that if He is with us, we cannot fail.

📖 “Him we preach and proclaim, warning and admonishing everyone and instructing everyone in all wisdom (comprehensive insight into the ways and purposes of God), that we may present every person mature (full-grown, fully initiated, complete, and perfect) in Christ (the Anointed One). For this I labor [unto weariness], striving with all the superhuman energy which He so mightily enkindles and works within me." -Colossians 1:28-29 AMPC

Paul was walking out the call of God. He was fulfilling his purpose. He was laboring to the point of weariness and depending on the Greater One on the inside of him to strengthen him and supply him with the energy he needed. That should be our attitude toward our purpose and calling. We should pursue it with all of our might. We should depend on the Greater One to energize us to go above and beyond. Jesus did the same thing when He was on earth. He was teaching, preaching, and setting the people free. Jesus gave it all He had, and we should do no less. We should give God everything we have, plus some. It's the least that we can do because of all that He has sacrificed so that we can be free.

📖 “And so it was that he [Abraham], having waited long and endured patiently, realized and obtained [in the birth of Isaac as a pledge of what was to come] what God had promised him.” -Hebrews 6:15 Amplified Bible Classic Edition

God made a promise to Abraham when he was seventy-five years old. The “promised child” was born when Abraham was a hundred years old. Abraham waited twenty-five years until the promised child was born. Abraham could have been moved by time, but he wasn’t. Abraham believed God. Abraham believed that God was faithful to bring everything to pass. Abraham had experienced the Blessing of the Lord, and He knew that God would not lie to Him. Abraham reached the point where He believed that God would do what He said He would do. Many times, we are unwilling to wait on God. We may not know why things have taken a long time to manifest, but we know that God is faithful. We must endure patiently, knowing that God will come through. We must rest in the integrity of God. It is a divine truth that He cannot lie (John 3:33 Amplified Classic).

📖 “Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah." -Psalm 68:19 King James Version

God is so good! He isn’t just good some of the time; He is good all the time. He daily loads us with benefits. Every day we can expect something good from God. The Word tells us that “every good gift and every perfect gift comes from above and comes down from the Father of lights” (James 1:17). God doesn’t daily load us with hardships and obstacles. He doesn’t pass on sickness and disease to us. He gives us good things, all the time. Jesus did not come to give us problems, He came to give us life and life in abundance. It is easy to tell where something comes from. If it is bad, it is from the devil. If it is good, it is God. Every day, look for something good to happen to you. It is a benefit that belongs to you as a believer.

📖 “The Lord will not allow the righteous to hunger [God will meet all his needs], But He will reject and cast away the craving of the wicked." -Proverbs 10:3 Amplified Bible

The Lord knows how to meet our needs. He will not allow us to go hungry when we put our trust in Him. God fed Elijah by sending the ravens to bring him food in the morning and the evening. Jesus multiplied fish and bread and fed thousands of people. God fed the Israelites manna in the wilderness, and there were 2-3 million people. God is not moved by famine or our circumstances. God is moved by faith. He changes circumstances and will change yours if you believe Him to do so. His eyes are looking throughout the earth to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is perfect towards Him (II Chronicles 16:9).

📖 “For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.”; “Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy.” –Psalm 30:5; 126:5 NKJV

The Lord never leaves us or forsakes us because we belong to Him. However, our disobedience can separate us from Him to the degree that we do not experience His favor. God’s love and mercy cause Him to give us avenues of repentance so He can restore our joy and fellowship. Consider Proverbs 3:11-12 NLT - “My child, don’t reject the Lord’s discipline, and don’t be upset when he corrects you. For the Lord corrects those he loves, just as a father corrects a child in whom he delights". It is a parental thing. God is a good Father. We may weep through the night as we come back in alignment with God's Word and will, but He will always restore our joy. His love will never fail us. If we sow tears of repentance, we will reap a harvest of joy. Godly sorrow leads to repentance, and tears of repentance lead to joy. Turn your tears into tears of joy! You are loved!

📖 "At the crack of dawn on Sunday, the women came to the tomb carrying the burial spices they had prepared. They found the entrance stone rolled back from the tomb, so they walked in. But once inside, they couldn’t find the body of the Master Jesus. They were puzzled, wondering what to make of this. Then, out of nowhere it seemed, two men, light cascading over them, stood there. The women were awestruck and bowed down in worship. The men said, “Why are you looking for the Living One in a cemetery? He is not here, but raised up. Remember how he told you when you were still back in Galilee that he had to be handed over to sinners, be killed on a cross, and in three days rise up?” Then they remembered Jesus’ words.” -Luke 24:1-8 The Message

Jesus is alive! Jesus came to the earth, and He fulfilled His mission. The grave could not keep Him. After Jesus paid the price for the sin of humanity, God raised Him from the dead. The people that would receive Him, would no longer be subject to Satan. The people that received Him would no longer be subject to the curse of sickness and disease. The death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ sealed our victory. Jesus took the keys of hell and death. We are now seated with Him at the right hand of the Father. We are now His joint-heirs. We are now the children of God. Praise the Lord, our Savior is alive!

📖 "If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just (true to His own nature and promises) and will forgive our sins [dismiss our lawlessness] and [continuously] cleanse us from all unrighteousness [everything not in conformity to His will in purpose, thought, and action]." -I John 1:9 Amplified Bible Classic Edition

We have all missed the mark at some point. We all have said something we shouldn't have said and done things that we knew we should not have done. In short: we have all made mistakes and acted in ways in which we knew better. The good news is that God is a LOVING God. When we confess our sins, He is faithful to forgive us and to cleanse us from all wrongdoing. When there is true repentance, God promises to forget our sins as though the sin had never occurred. God looks at the heart, and He knows our flaws. God is faithful to us, even if we aren’t. He is faithful to His compassionate nature. He will never condemn us for our past. As we walk with Him, we know that our latter end will be greater than our former.

📖 "Oh, thank God—he’s so good! His love never runs out. All of you set free by God, tell the world! Tell how he freed you from oppression, Then rounded you up from all over the place, from the four winds, from the seven seas.” -Psalm 107:1-3 The Message Bible

God is so good. The Bible tells us that His mercies are new every morning and that He is faithful (Lamentations 3:22-23). When God sets us free, He expects us to stay free. He also expects us to share about our deliverance with others. Remember that we have overcome by the Blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony (Revelation 12:11). God is so good to us that we should always be testifying of His goodness. Our testimony is a living, breathing advertisement for the kingdom of God. It reveals to the world how good God is, and it causes them to want to know more about the God we serve. No one wants to hear about a God that will bring sickness on your body and causes calamity in your life. Most people would run as far as they can from a God like that.
