Luke 21:25-2 (NKJV)

“And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.  Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”

There will be some very disturbing signs in the future as an upheaval in nature takes place, the likes of which has never been seen on this planet. Jesus said it would cause people to suffer heart failure (spiritual or physical or both) because of the great fear that strikes them. Is that supposed to be us? Absolutely not! Notice Jesus said the people would fear because of what they expect to happen next. However, He goes on to say that these things will precede His return in power and glory. Then He describes what our response should be. He said, Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.” We are not to be afraid because our expectation is for good and not evil, for salvation and not destruction, for redemption and not death. While the world shudders in fear about the challenges we face, we see them as temporary situations before our eternal freedom from everything bad that exists now. The end of our story is glory.
