John 14:27 (NKJV)

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Jesus told us He left a gift for us when He returned to Heaven. It is the gift of His peace. We may not always feel that peace but we must know that we have it if we are going to be able to enjoy it as Jesus intended. Notice that after He told us He left us His peace, He said that we must not allow our hearts to be troubled or afraid. I have had minor heart issues in the past and for a long time now, whenever I felt chest pain or my heart palpitating or feeling out of order, I have said out loud, “Heart, you may not be troubled.” I know Jesus was talking about our spiritual heart but there is a parallel between the natural and the spiritual, so I also use it for my physical heart. I am actually speaking to the spiritual side and the natural at the same time. The main thing is that Jesus let us know we have control and should not permit fear to dominate us. Knowing we have His peace, we should stir it up and defeat fear every time. Amen
