Nehemiah 9:31 NKJV

Nevertheless in Your great mercy You did not utterly consume them nor forsake them; for You are God, gracious and merciful.

As Israelites confessed their sins in an act of repentance, they talked about the justification of God's judgment against the nation. Then they mentioned how God's mercy was evident even in the midst of judgment. They could have been completely consumed but the Lord's mercy prevented their annihilation. He did not forsake them, because through His mercy He planned to renew fellowship with them after they repented. Thank God for His mercy.
