Jeremiah 30:17 NKJV

For I will restore health to you and heal you of your wounds,’ says the Lord, ‘Because they called you an outcast saying: “This is Zion; No one seeks her.”’

When our health has been challenged where should we turn? In the world the first options are usually the medicine cabinet, the pharmacy, the doctor or some other healthcare professional. However, whether it is our physical, mental or psychological health that is challenged, as believers we must recognize God as the primary source of our health. In this passage in Jeremiah, the Lord says, “I will restore health to you and heal you of your wounds.” Oh how God longs to be the first one we turn to instead of the last! He may use a doctor but the doctor receives his talents from God. The doctor is practicing. He is not perfect. Even the doctor needs God’s help. So why would we not turn to God first and even commit the doctor into the hands of God if we go to one? It is time for us to get serious about putting God above all else, above everyone else. Other people can be channels but God is the Source. If we would acknowledge Him in all our ways as it says in Proverbs 3:6, I wonder how much better things would go for us. I wonder if we would sometimes not even need a doctor, or be led to the right one so we get the best help. When it comes to restoration of our health, let us practice seeking God first.
