Daniel 4:36-37 NKJV

At the same time my reason returned to me, and for the glory of my kingdom, my honor and splendor returned to me. My counselors and nobles resorted to me, I was restored to my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added to me. Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, all of whose works are truth, and His ways justice. And those who walk in pride He is able to put down.

This passage in Daniel reveals how King Nebuchadnezzar was restored to his position as king after acknowledging God as the source of all things. The king had been driven to the fields to live like an animal for a period of time because of his pride. I think that it is an amazing display of God’s goodness and mercy that he was restored. God could have just shut him down for good but he allowed him to be restored after he humbled himself and repented of his pride. I wonder how many people were never restored because they either did not want to repent of their pride or they were too ashamed to allow God to restore them after they were humiliated. One thing we can learn from this is that we should always give God glory for what He has blessed us with. Another thing is that if we find ourselves caught up in pride and suffering the consequences, we should repent and have confidence in God to restore us as we humble ourselves and choose to live in humility going forward. God is a good and merciful God if we get our hearts right toward Him.
