Jeremiah 7:16 NKJV

“Therefore do not pray for this people, nor lift up a cry or prayer for them, nor make intercession to Me; for I will not hear you.

This verse comes from a passage where God is protesting about the idolatry of His people. He was so annoyed by their utter disrespect for Him. They participated in wickedness and idolatry and then came to the house dedicated to Him as if what they were doing was okay. History has repeated itself today as we see the same thing happening in our generation. God told to Jeremiah not to bother praying for the people because He would not hear the prayer. Since God does not change, we can conclude that He is ignoring the prayers of those who live like that today. Prayer is not magic. It is communication with God born out of respect for Him. We must not practice evil and idolatry and then pray as if there’s nothing wrong with what we are doing. We need to acknowledge God and submit to His Word before we can have a prayer life with Him. If we do something wrong He will forgive us when we ask Him to and He will have mercy on us. However, if we want to live contrary to His Word and act like it is okay, religious demons may respond to us but God will not hear or answer us.
