Acts 2:42; 3:1 NKJV

And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

Now Peter and John went up together to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour.

Look at how the church of Jesus Christ started. The people gathered daily as is shown in Acts 2:46. In verse 42 it says they continued steadfastly in prayers. Since they gathered daily we can assume that they also prayed daily. Then in Acts 3:1 we see Peter and John going to the temple at 3pm to pray. The scripture says it was the hour of prayer. Apparently corporate prayer took place every day at that time for Jews. Modern Christians often do not want to gather for any kind of prayer or worship more than once a week on a Sunday morning. Then if there is a time dedicated just for prayer it is has had the least amount of people in attendance. Oh how far we have come in the wrong direction. I wish that our gatherings to pray would not consist continually of the same few people with an odd visitor every once in a while. May the Lord teach us, not just how to pray but the need for prayer, individually as well as corporately.
