Ephesians 6:18 NKJV
praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—
Paul exhorted the Ephesian Christians to pray in the Spirit all of the time and to pray all kinds of prayers. He also told them to pray for the entire Body of Christ. There are different kinds of prayers. The prayer of petition is used when we need to ask for something. The prayer of thanksgiving and praise is used when we need to express gratitude or just brag about how good and great God is. The prayer of dedication and consecration is used when we need to commit ourselves to God’s will regardless of how we feel about a matter. The prayer of intercession is used when we need to pray for someone else. With so many ways to pray we can be praying all the time and we should. We need the Lord’s help and we need to praise Him and give Him thanks. We also need to pray for others so we do not become selfish - always thinking about what we need or want. Right now is a good time to stop and pray.
