Exodus 40:20 NKJV
He took the Testimony and put it into the ark, inserted the poles through the rings of ark, and put the mercy seat on top of the ark.
I am amazed at the mercy of God. This verse makes me think about the power behind God's mercy - His love. He had Moses to put the teaching and instructions for Israel in the ark and then put the mercy seat on top. He knew that they were unable to obey all the instructions perfectly so he covered the torah with the mercy seat. Oh how I wish I had never failed one time to do what God said - whether it was not doing it, or not doing it the way He said to do it. I hate every failure but I am eternally grateful for His mercy whenever I fell short. Had it not been for God's mercy, my life would have been a mess and ended a long time ago. As one songwriter put it, "Mercy re-wrote my life." I'm reminded again of Lamentations 3:22. "Through the Lord's mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not."
