Exodus 25:21-22 NKV

You shall put the mercy seat on top of the ark, and in the ark you shall put the Testimony that I will give you. And there I will meet with you, and I will speak with you from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim which are on the ark of the Testimony, about everything which I will give you in commandment to the children of Israel.

God told Moses to put the teaching He gave Israel in a piece of furniture called the "Ark of the Covenant." The covering for this container was called the "Mercy Seat" and God said He would communicate with Moses from above the "Mercy Seat." I can see this as representing God's understanding of human struggle to live in line with the teachings He gave us. I hate to admit that I have not always followed God's instructions fully. There were times I did not do what I should. Other times, I did what I was told to do but not when I was told to do it. I responded in my own time. I am ashamed of how I disrespected God, doing things my own way. I am grateful that He communicates with me from above the "Mercy Seat." My heart is perfect toward God but my actions have not caught up 100% yet. I desire to please God 100% of the time in every way. Until I arrive, I am grateful for His love and longsuffering. I am most grateful for, and humbled by His mercy toward me.
