1 Samuel 1:17 NKJV

Then Eli answered and said, "Go in peace, and the God of Israel grant your petition which you have asked of Him."

The story of Samuel, a famous prophet, began with a man named Elkanah and his barren wife, Hannah. Elkanah had 2 wives and the other, Peninnah, had children. Peninnah taunted Hannah because Hannah was unable to bare children. Hannah vowed to God that if He gave her a son, she would dedicate him to the service of the Lord all his life. At the time of her prayer she was in anguish. Her appetite was not good. She wept as she made her request. Eli, the priest noticed her and, after finding out she was in earnest prayer about something, he blessed her and told her to go in peace. He said, "...the God of Israel grant your petition..." Hannah got up, regained her appetite and her face was no longer sad. That shows she believed God heard her prayer and would honor her vow. When we act in faith, it causes us to walk in peace. Peace comes from the blessed assurance that our Father is faithful to watch over His Word that He has spoken regarding us. Let us find out what He said and choose to believe.
